This Fatip just came in the mail. It's on loan from my buddy Jrod22. Hopefully I don't skin myself alive with it. [IMG]

Ryan, the Fatips can be a bit 'temperamental' when it comes to proper angle and pressure—but once you find the right spot, anticipate a great shave. Enjoy!

I've been reading up on them. I'll try it out for my next shave. I'll just do one pass WTG and call it good. That's how I test our all new razors.

Nothing fancy here, but excited about every little thing. I had to order some of my Christmas treats after Christmas day, but shipping was so prompt that the waiting was (almost ) painless. You'll see that I'm still budget-minded, even for Christmas.

From Shavetools, a Vie-Long brush and some Marvy soap. The horse & boar mix is my first brush other than my drug store VDH. I wanted to try something else just for comparison's sake, and research has made me curious about horsehair brushes, but I like the stiffness of my boar. I also like the traditional barber-type handle and I dig the basic styling. The Marvy was a buck so I'll give it a go.

MOST EXCITED about the rest of that photo: my Shave Den Shop blade sampler! This is my first real step beyond corner store blades. For the price and the number of different blades you get, this really seemed to be the best deal out there. Plus, this is just about the only sampler that includes Personna Labs, which I really wanted to try. Looking forward to digging in and taking notes. Great job and "attagirl" to Joanna and the Shave Den Shop! I'll be back with more business.

Last is a thrift store find. The Tabasco mug, I've had for a while. The cream-colored cup is my new find; it fits neatly inside, its rim catches that of the mug just right, and I think the colors are complementary. I'm looking forward to some warm lather makeshift-scuttle goodness. Anxious to see how well it works.

I bought some containers much like these from a Dressmaking supply store/Haberdasherers/Hobby supermarket kind of deal from "Spotlight" in Australia, except they have a Oval Shaped slot and one group of small holes (3 I think) in the Lid and the "neck" to allow breathing to occur and may help stop mildewing? I think they were also around $7.00

I passed by the local antiqe store and look what just happened to end up in my pocket: an almost brandless straight. The only marking,is a post horn on the tang with two letters close by. One I can't read and the other?is an 'e'. Does anyone have an idea as to the brand?I'll post some pictures after cleaning it up.

    Hi Friends,

    today 2 soaps arrived.

The smell of the Gree Irish Tweed is...WOW!!! Fresh,floral,woodsy...wonderful. Face-test-lathered and i have to say: Very very good. Slick,thick,yoghurt-like lather within seconds.

The soap comes in a puck.Wrapped in foil. Here an absolutely wonderful scent too. A little sweet, but i like it very much.Palm-test-lathered...the beginning is a little bubbly, but with a little more elbow grease, you get a very good, yoghurty lather which smells heavenly.CAUTION: If you have trouble getting good lather (as i read by many people): This soap needs only a tiny amount of water. Start with a "nearly" dry brush.Only the tips should be wet. Apply a few drips of water after a few seconds.Keep swirling. After 3-4 times doing that, you will get a creamy, really slick lather.

    Greetings
    Thorsten

I'm on my phone and can't figure out how to send messages.

On Facebook, go to the search bar and type in "Tiki Bar Soap."

So far my 2014 'Haul' has been limited by the ability of the USPS to deliver.
I have 4 packages that were to have been delivered between December 23 and January 3—two with USPS tracking—and all are missing.
The two with tracking were supposedly 'delivered' on December 24 to a closed business address. No pick up tags left. The other two are still MIA.

Sounds not that good Kevin...I thought our "German Post" has problems...but all shipments missing?! Wow!!! :angry032: That´s not funny. Is there a chance to get in contact with USPS to get some near informations about this situation?

Thorsten, I've been talking to both our regular postal carrier and well as the postal office. The post office is our neighbor, located right next door to the church. I get plenty of excuses ("we get many packages during the holidays…") and shoulder-shrugging, but I haven't heard any encouraging news so far. Value of the 4 missing packages is about $230, so I'm anxious to solve the mystery. The irony here is I purposely have packages delivered to my work address as my local home postman has mis-delivered numerous packages all around our neighborhood. :(

Extra good day today. A good shave followed by a family outing to breakfast and then an antique show.
The day began with one of my sisters giving me a gift(s) that she acquired from her father-in-law. Couple of brushes and 4 straight razors.

    gr3.jpg gr2.jpg gr1.jpg

The brushes are pretty rough but still candidates for restoration if I ever decide to try my hand at it. All the straights have plain black scales but all are restorable as well. And something I've never seen before, no it's not a travel size straight razor... it's a corn razor. A LaCross corn razor by Schnefel Bros USA and it came in a little narrow box just like a regular straight razor. I took a picture with a DE just to give a perspective on the size. The more I look at it the more ideas I come up with like a moustache straight razor, or a straight razor for ladies to shave their underarms...

Now for the stuff I bought at the antique show. A Barbicide disinfectant jar, a Stick Schick, (2) 1930's Gillette New DE's, and a H M Christensen straight.

    gr8.jpg gr4.jpg gr7.jpg

The Gillettes were marked as 1920's vintage but as near as I can figure they're 1930's New's, one with a ball handle and the other with a common bar handle. I'd seen the three safety razors last fall when I ran into the same vendor at another show but didn't pick them up so I was happy to get them today. One of the Gillettes looks like it's been dropped because on one corner the 1st tine of the comb is bent in a little bit so I need to figure out if it needs to be corrected and how to do it without making things worse. The straight has just a tiny nick that can probably be honed out and it was only $5 so I couldn't pass it up.

Awesome-sauce, found it. I did find a website at http://tikibarsoap.com but she isn't selling the shaving soaps there yet; "coming soon,"she says.

I'm in Trussville, northeast of Birmingham, and it looks like she sells at markets around here so I'll definitely find her when market season starts. Thanks a million for the tip.

A NOS Gillette Tech, my preferred razor. I have 2 other user-grade Techs, so I think I'll keep this one for collection only.
