The Haul: May 2017

Picked up this Canadian NEW LC for a good price in an antique shop out of town this weekend. It came with some 'happy' blades. It has cleaned up nicely.

I think I mentioned this in the "Waiting To Arrive" thread, but while I was on vacation, a coworker found me a Clix razor at a flea market.

It's in pretty decent shape though I need to work on cleaning the case more. I'm not sure what version this is, especially given that it has the cap with pins rather than guide bars.

Got this about Mint German Made Hamburg Ring 6/8th in the Post Today...I Honed it on a My Naniwa Super Stone Progression to 12 K then Finished Her on the Escher Thuri..The Blade Says "Extra Hollow Ground" But its Actually a 1/2 Hollow Grind..In My Experince True Extra Hollow Grinds are Very Rare & Razor Manufactures Often Misuse the Term "Extra Hollow" as a Sales Pitch..

The Factory Grind is One of the Best I have Seen..It Took a Spectacular Edge..I Need to Stop Buying SRs in this Condition to Sell as I Just Wanna Keep them for My Own Collection..

Mr Waits seems to suggest 1961 but does anyone on here have better info?

 

Definitely not 1961 (no stainless blades in 61 for starters). If not on the instructions did you check the case for a date (M-68 or something like that)? Plastic knob and Schick Krona on the doors suggest 68-71-ish. Oldest Kronas (65-66) have no door markings and metal knob. 67-68 say patent pending.

Says 'Patent Pending' under the razor head. Case marked 'Pat. Pending' then a '2' under the @Pat. Pending'. So, I guess we shoot for 67-68?

Arrived today from the USA! A gorgeous GEM Push Button to add to my growing GEM stable...

 

I was one of the winners of the TSD raffle. My 195 just arrived with other additional goodies. Thanks @John Beeman . This 195 is more than I could have imagined. I will be putting my old 195 up on BST at a steep discount. I only need one.

 

After a good soaking & a good scrubbing, this thing came out looking near-mint...
