Until I entered the seventh grade, my friends and family all called me by my middle name, "Wayne." Being a shy kid, and having entered a junior high where I knew no one, the teacher was taking role for the first time and called "Jimmie Roe." I answered, "Here." From then on, to everyone outside of my family I was Jimmie. Yes, Jimmie with and "ie." As my college adviser, also a Jimmie, said, "So, your mother had a sense of humor, too." Later, I worked on a framing crew where there was a Jimmie, a Wayne, and a JW. That is where the JR or Jayaruh was born.

Well, as time went by, Jimmie made room for Jim. Now, in my golden years, I have embraced Jimmie once more. So, are you a James, Jimmy, Jimmie, Jim, Gem, or Gym? Let us know your name's story. Is there a Jim Stone out there or perhaps a Jim Nasium? I am a lover of Gem razors. I have toyed with getting a GM Jimmy. Maybe we can get a conversation going.

That is cool. Growing up there were not many Jimmies that I remember. There was Jimmie Dodd on the Mickey Mouse Club. I thought that that was pretty cool.

And of course, I love Jimmy Durante.

He was a favorite actor of mine, and he served in WWII and in Viet Nam. He became a Brigadier General in the Air Force Reserves. That is the highest rank an actor has ever achieved in real life.

Yeah. I almost did. He gave us the 55MPH Interstate speed limits, and that was when gas prices began to climb with authority.

    So, it's "Jay-Ar-ah", and not "Jay-a-roo".

My younger brother is James, goes by Jim. Guess we did call him Jimmy as a kid.

I'm Stephen, go by Steve, but Mom, Dad and brothers will still call me Stevie every now and then.
    My wife calls me Stephen.
Odd story of my name. I was named after my grandfather, Gerald (hard "G" as in gate) Leslie Mallar. Everyone called him Steve, even my grandmother.

Growing up it's been either Jim or JJ. But when I got involved in coaching women's softball, one of the girls started calling me Jimmy Joe and that has been used by most of them. But I did have a friend in Grammar school that called me Jim Joe.
