As of now, this list is just an image dump. I am going to go through and caption and explain the pics. That is going to take some time, so this is how we will start!

    *UNDER CONSTRUCTION*

The Room- this is our spare bathroom. It is shared by my son and I. The house is older, and the bathroom wasn't especially nice when we moved in. Add in a few years of use by a teenager and an apathetic adult, and the room was looking decidedly shabby. We used to joke that it looked like a set in one of the Saw movies. Enter shaving. The room got cleaner. The room got organized. Dare I say it? The room finally got some love. It is still far from perfect, but it is the place that I look forward to starting my day in.

The Stuff- the following pics catalog most of my shaving stuff. There are three large boxes not shown. One is paper/ephemera, sharpeners, strops, hones and misc., second box is extra aftershave, novelty shaped bottles, and outer packaging for aftershaves and cologne. Third box is razors I have no place for, whether they be doubles etc., or cased/boxed, or in rough condition. I will spread that stuff out and photograph it also. Finally I have a fourth small box featuring my shave related toys. Also soon to be pictured.

Pics follow. There are a lot. Captions and descriptions coming soon!

Nope not in California, in North Carolina. I may have gone a little overboard with the RAD. But I collected toys for many years. I finally hit a point where I was no longer interested. It was all about the hunt. Then, once I got the target item, it got put in a box in my toy room, never to be seen again. Once I realized that it really was no longer bringing me any kind of joy, I decided to walk away. I started selling off my collection early this year. The first funds from the sales went into fixing up my Vespa. And then shaving entered my life. Now I have the fun of the hunt, but the bonus is a collection that I get to use and immerse myself in every day! It's great, and honestly, really fulfilling. Even my girlfriend and son approve. Previously I used to get a lot of 'do you really need to buy that?' from them. Now I get, 'you really need to buy that!'.

So where will all the straight razors go when that collection starts? :D:D

Did you get the Vespa done? It's very nice to have your loved ones on board with this crazy hobby:) the reason I ask about California is because of the Avon Sailboat? Up high. That would've been gone long ago. I do like all of your gear! And you have lots.

I have actually been thinking about that. Since mastery of the straight razor is not going to happen overnight... I am trying to force a vow on myself to take that collection slowly. It will be just plain embarrassing to own twenty straight razors, and then cut off a nostril because I don't know what I am doing with them. I am going to give myself six months to learn. After that, if I am good at it, then I will go overboard!

Impressive fact #1: That's a lot of razors!
Impressive fact #2: You have a girlfriend! (considering fact #1)

Sad fact#1 is that shaving gear is my least nerdy hobby. As mentioned above, I used to collect toys. Plus; I love old school pro wrestling. I love Dungeons and Dragons. I collect and paint vintage D&D and wargame miniatures. I collect warming rules- I especially like to lovingly collate them and put them in carefully labeled binders. Also dice... my dice collection runs into triple digits. I own a tiny western town. I hold firm opinions about Godzilla. I dislike American football. I like love soccer (real football). I read science fiction and fantasy novels- voraciously. I don't get most classic literature references, but I can discuss at length the Final Fantasy videogame series. I have debated going back to school for a history degree- for fun. I own 11 sweater vests. I have learned two computer languages that became obsolete. I consider myself a shoe polishing enthusiast. I have been to New York Comic Con twice, and was let down by it's lack of true nerdiness. I know how to sew. My son is named after both Mr. Bean and Aleister Crowley. Inspired by a Ripley's Believe it or Not comic, I taught myself to read upside down as a child. It is a skill I am proud of.
I could keep going, but it would probably be best for the both of us if I didn't. So in short, the razors? All part of the charm.:signs021:

    :)
    Let's see, out of yours I have;
    - Never played D&D but I do know what a D20 is and I love RPGs,
    - Used to collect comics years ago,
    - Prefer soccer (football) to American Football,
    - love Sci Fi books and movies,
    - have played at least three of the FF games and even though it's such a cliche I do prefer VII,
    - I own two sweater vests,
    - I've learned two computer languages that are now obsolete (if not three actually come think of it),

    ;)

That's a nice "FULL" den! :happy088: All you need to hold your future straight razor collection is a hanging bag and the back of a door like "geofatboy" has in his bathroom. Also you don't need to be able to use straights inorder to collect them, at least I don't..:happy097: While I can shave with a straight after a fashion, it's not a good, close or enjoyable shave, also I dislike the regular effort needed for blade maintenance, but none of the has stopped me from collecting about 20 of them. :)

This opens a whole new door of enabling folks to collect shaving paraphernalia that they wont ever use.....;) :D
