Well, good news, @gssixgun , and @HolyRollah , I spent about 10 minutes on the 1k King stone, and the bevel looks great. There was some light rust on the bevel, but it turned out to be very light. I would estimate that only about 1/3 of the bevels depth was effected. I was relieved. So, I now have a nice clean bevel, verified under the 60x loupe. I then dulled its edge well, so I can now start the sanding, without slicing myself up.
Can't wait to see the finished product. I think I've contracted tetanus just looking at the original.
I've had my tetanus shot. I ain't Skeered. Oh, it's coming back to life. I've worked on it a little, this morning, and it's a sanding festival around here. The end resulting looks will all depend on how tired I get of sanding and polishing.
Here it is. I finally called it quits, with the sanding. I hope this hasn't been a let-down for you guys. I'm taking a break from the honing, and will pick that up later. BTW, the blade is beautifully flat, and takes a wickedly sharp bevel. I plan on polishing the scales up a little later on too. Razor- Rusty Crusty(formerly) "Suzuki Folding Kamisori"
Looks great. If all you are going to do is shave with it and practice honing it, why go any further? I have no problem with mild pitting and patina on an old saved blade, if it holds a good edge and shaves well. I have an old "Royal Blue" razor that looks like Billy Hell, but takes an edge and shaves like Nirvana. At this point, I start looking for another old blade to start over again!
Whoo Hoo, Success!!!! Perfectly sharp and BBS shave. This is one sweet feeling razor. I'm glad I decided to hone it "Western Style". It shaved smoothly on either side of the blade.
No, no. You misunderstand. We're a good influence on your RAD. Your pocketbook, on the other hand, we may be influencing badly.
