On t he 18th the Art of Manliness posted an interview they did with Mantic59 - It is a great 101 in the art of wet shaving and great place for anyone just getting started. http://www.artofmanliness.com/2015/09/18/podcast-139-the-secrets-of-shaving/
i listened to this podcast soon after OP originally posted ... good stuff! i've also watched many a video of both @mantic (59) and geofatboy. i've learned so much from both. from an overall wetshaving perspective ... i think i get that general, wet-shaving type of knowledge and info from geo. from a newbie perspective ... i've learned more of the critical, first step kind of techniques from mantic59 ... like short strokes, little/no pressure, correct angle, etc. when i got started (9 mo.s ago) and about the time i joined TSD, i watched some geo vids. now, i know it's a YMMV kind of thing, and it's good for him ... but me trying to replicate his angle didn't go well for me. it seems to be a much steeper blade angle than i need. it wasn't until a few weeks later that i watched a mantic59 video in which he displayed a better angle for starters. for me, that was when the light bulb went on and shaves started getting much better in quick fashion. oh, what would we do without the internet ... such a great forum as this and so many helpful videos by so many people!!!
What we would do? Shave of course ... how do you think us old-timers started? (actually my dad taught me)
