Since I just received three more Stirling soaps - I decided to weigh them before I started to use them. I really don't have a feel for how fast I use any soap in my collection and since these are my only new unused ones - I'll start tracking them. I'll keep track of the number of uses and weigh them perhaps every tenth time. The starting weights all came in very close to one another - quality control. I weighed them without their lids. Sharp Dressed Man: 8.05 oz Orange Chill: 8.18 oz Barbershop: 8.08 oz I'll start by using Barbershop in a few minutes for my Friday afternoon (get ready for date night) shave.
My little shipment arrived. First sniff impressions are positive. Executive Man smells great. Piacenza is interesting, but not in a bad way. Mountain Man seems more complex. That one is intriguing. My mom said she didn't care for the first smell of Gentleman, and it was probably my fourth out of these four. We shall see!
Just tried Barbershop for the first time. I really like the scent. Produced a lot of lather. The photo shows what was still left after the first pass. Did a total of three passes with still a lot of lather - way more than needed. I maybe spent about 10 seconds loading the brush and another 20 seconds with the bowl (Captain's Choice) to get what you see. I used my Omega Professional Boar brush. Threw on a bit of Col Conk Bay Rum after shave once done. A most excellent shave. I'll probably try the Orange Chill for the next shave.
As I see it now, here's my list of favorites from what I ordered.(in PARTICULAR order). 1. Sandpiper. 2. Stirling Gentleman. 3. Executive Man. 4. Sharp Dressed Man. I'vve already begun SDM, and will try Gentleman on Sunday. My first sniff of Sandpiper told me "This one has to be it!" and the Gentleman told me "This one could work, too!".
I had a long look at the Mountain Man, and I'll just say it could still be a choice for me down the road. Complex, you say, eh?
I don't remember commenting on that one. If I did I was mistaking it for something else. I had a sample of the AS when it first came out, and my wife didn't care for it much, so I never ordered any more.
