It is celluloid, from what I can tell. It is in great shape and at $9.50 + shipping, can't beat the price.
Big mail haul yesterday as make the last acquisitions of 2017..... I think The first I will blame on @entropy1049 , he sold me a wonderful JWest that had a fantastic edge, and it was finished with this stone, a Gokumyo 20k. I final found a reasonable price and could no longer resist. The second one, a M Martinez 'Irish Grin' 17/16 monster, I blame on @Vlasta .This is my biggest and heaviest razor. A pleasure to shave with, just let gravity do the work. The last I blame on ???? no idea. I kept hearing about the great reputation of this Swedish razor and found a good price for so decided to give it a shot, a CV Heljestrand MK6. It looks tiny next to the M Martinez.
Snagged this, my only modern production straight late late week for an absolute steal. I believe the listing said it was from a “crazy ex-girlfriend” and that he just wanted it gone. The BIN price was just too low to pass up.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I already posted this one on The Haul thread last night but I just found this straight razor thread so I'll include it here. This is my first straight razor acquisition, in other words I looked it over at the consignment shop and chose to dive into the deep end of the lake. I liked the look of the razor and I didn't think $18 was too bad. I know nothing about the razor at this time, but 90% of the fun in this hobby is learning. I welcome any input from you straight razor aficionados. Thanks!
That’s a sweet looking razor! It’s very Swedish looking with the shoulderless design. It looks like it has Faux Tortoise Shell or dyed blonde horn. Great looking acquisition! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have Owned a Simmons..It was Made in Germany..They Often Get Mistaken for USA Made Productions..Simmons Hardware Imported them to My Knowledge..That Blade has No Hone Wear I Can See & it Will Hone Up Very Well.. Billy..
Very nice find. Polish up the blade, get it honed, and you should be off to a great start. Read up on restoring the blade, before you guess at it, and it should look beatiful.
Just picked up this Joseph Rogers Wedge. Its smaller than a Japanese Midget razor.I assume it is a traveling salesman model or maybe made as a mustache razor.
No it was made small on purpose .It is not a shorty or reworked.Picture is deceptive. It is smaller than a C.V. Heljestrand MK 29
My Charnley Forest Arrived Today..Its Lapped Flat & Smooth..I Done the Marker Pen Test & then Lapped it with 350 Grit to 1000 Grit..Took Me a Handful of Minutes..Its Smooth as Glass..I Am Over the Moon..I Will be Using this Stone with Oil..I Just Know this is Gonna be a Superb High Grit Capacity Finisher..No Bones about it..
