So...some time ago I ended up finding this shaving cream on Connaught when they were in the 'seconds' bin. At a total of $6 including shipping for TWO tubes...I decided to take a gamble on them. They've been lying on my shelf for a month or so now but this morning I was curious to try out a cream with my brand new Robert Becker scuttle...and remembered this cream. First of all, the name. "Supermax Ultimate". Seriously? That just might be the worst name I've ever heard but...don't judge a book by its cover..or the soap by its inane name. I did like that it said it contained Aloe Vera and Tea Tree extract. Took out a tube and put an almond sized blob in the warm scuttle and began lathering up with my SOC boar brush. It took a bit more work than the Cella did but after a 100 swirls or so I had what appeared to be a really nice, THICK lather. Now, I don't know if this cream is supposed to be lathered in a bowl or directly on the face but I've come to realize that most any soap or cream can be used either way. Scent: Basically none at all. I couldn't pick up on anything. Performance: Now this is where this cream surprised me. Wow. The lather it produced had amazing staying power (I got a phone call in the middle of lathering...came back 10 mins later and the brush was still full of THICK lather with nice peaks). On my face it was creamy, thick and protective and gave an amazing shave. So yeah, too bad about the name..but the performance really was....supermax
Ok, that is pretty bad as well I actually didn't know that supermax was as big as it is. They are all over the place: http://www.supermaxworld.com/
Thanks to @JR Reyes picking this cream from the GrabBox it inspired/reminded me about the tube I still got on the shelf. I have no idea why I don't use this cream more often (read: at all) since I recall, and looking at the photo, it produced some amazing lather. It is now on the counter ready to be used at 6:45am tomorrow morning
This stuff does produce some respectable lather. I had no idea it was that much of a bargin cream. I would have expected it priced around those in the proaso range. I am primarily a soap guy, but I do like to have a couple tubes of cream on hand just in case I'm in a hurry, or if I have a new person that I'm trying to convert. I did a quick lather test, and it yielded the same results from your pictures above. I'm taking tomorrow off because the R41 kicked my butt today, but I will indeed use this cream for my first SE sunday shave. Thanks again.
Sicillian Limes is one of my favourite creams.I find supermax creams to be the best value creams out there.Good performance.
I happen to love the Supermax Super Platinum blade. And seriously, has there ever been a lamer name for a blade?
