The Swedish DOMA SE razor

I recently picked up a near-mint, in original box, Swedish made DOMA SE razor.
    (Sorry @Billyfergie ;) )

You don't see them often for sale - especially with an original, unused, proprietary blade - so I was really happy to be able to add one to my little Swedish razor collection.

    Waits has this to say about the razor;

It's hard to date accurately but based on the patent and design it seems fair to place it in the 1930s-1940s.

The razor uses a rather unique push-button mechanism at the base of the handle that lifts a rod in the head so that a proprietary blade can be slid in..and then securely clamped down as the rod slides down.

The blade is rather thick and was advertised as being good for a life-time of shaves.
To keep it shard DOMA also made a special strop that the blade could fit into:

My razor in it's bakelite box:

It came with an original thick, silver colored cardboard piece that protects the blade and fits where the actual blade will go:

Here it is w/ that piece removed and the head naked (sans blade):

Here with the blade loaded and locked into place.
It has some scruff marks on it but the edge looks good.

    The blade itself:

Here's a short video with me showing a bit of how the razors works. Sorry for the poor cinematography ;)

(And enjoy watching me put the blade in upside down).

Yeah nice catch that one....The DOMA Ooozes a unique Swedish Heavy Weight Style .....She's built like a Warriors Razor.....

    :duel:
I reckon that will take an injector blade if the front portion of the original blade was cut or ground off to suit and used as a backing plate to hold it....
Thanks for Wheeeeching her from under my Nose kind Sir.....:chores016:

that one looks dangerous. seems like it would feel right to use your thumb to push the razor into position. which maybe could cause an issue.
definitely looks to be a two handed job.

I have one of those too. Being from Sweden it would be a shame not to have one. Mine came with 5 blades, 3 of which are unused. I haven't gotten around to trying it. Mainly because I wanted to find someone who's able to help me once the blades need sharpening again.

Yeah I really like the simple design.
@gssixgun did a great job honing some wedge/SE hoe blades for me so he might be able to take on this one as well.

So do you also have your Strivel, couple of Swings and a slew of different Matadors? :)
