Thickest double edge blade?

If you have a micrometer and want a laugh , you know those orange and white BIC disposable razors. I took one apart, and I couldn't believe that they would sell a razor with a blade that thin.

Just curious. Why would guys with thick whiskers benefit from a thinner blade?

 

Thinner blade has less of a edge to dull. Grind is not as wide

 

Easier to slice through, like a fillet knife versus an axe head.

 

Just like a paper cut. The envelope can cut you, but the card inside won't. !

 

I think these are probably the thickest your gonna find

In the B&B link in my first post (#8) a British New Gillette blade was actually measured to be thicker (.0067). Not that I necessarily trust the accuracy of those measurements, but it certainly does seem the old standard was. 006 and the new 004 with the latter beginning its dominance around 1937. And contrary to claims regarding the Personna med prep in that B&B thread it is also carries the. 004 spec.
