Well folks, we're almost to the end of another year of Theme Weeks. Please take a moment and review what we've done last year (click here) and let me know what you would like to see again this coming year. I would also like to know if you have any new ideas that may be fun and interesting. Please keep in mind a couple of things when submitting ideas - I would like to be able to include as many people as possible, I know we have a few brand name specific themes but really want to stay away from those. Also, share what your favorite week was and why. Mine was My SO/Kid(s) picked this out for me week. I think it was on a Wednesday that my wife said, "This is fun." I asked her why and she said because it made her feel closer to me by being part of my shave . And therein lies the secret to why we are still married after 31 years! So, ladies and gents, on with your ideas!
Local products week, or maybe drugstore products week. Bay Rum week. Soft Soap week. I really liked the Desert Island theme week, it got me interested in using a single set up for an extended period of time. Using just one set up really lets you get to know the strengths and weaknesses of a particular combination of products.
Woods week, featuring Sandalwood, Cedar, and other wood-scented soaps and aftershaves. Don't know that I've been here long enough (despite post count) to have a favorite, though Cold Water Shave week was interesting.
How about a "Shave-free week". Dont shave for 6 days, and on the 7th day shave with your favorite razor and blade. I shaved this morning for the first time in 4 days (no special reason, it just worked out that way) and this morning I took out my trusty Merkur 37C Slant razor and loaded it up with a brand new Wilkinson Saloon Pack blade. I then face lathered with TOOBS Grapefruit SC and went to town on my face and head. I followed up with my Bloc Osma Alum block, Thayers WH with added menthol, and a good splash of VIBR with added menthol. I gotta tell you, it was almost spiritual!
I shave because I enjoy it. That would kill my entire week; no fun for me at all. I will say that the few times I have missed a day (and only A day), that shave following was great. Not quite spiritual, mind you, but very nice.
Skipping a day makes for an easier shave, but skipping a week is not possible for many of us who must appear clean shaven for work.
"Shave with the Non-Dominant Hand" week...followed soon after by the "Styptic Pen Extravaganza" I'm so lefty-domninant I wouldn't dream of using my righty to wield a razor...
Sounds just like the Novelty Week we had. Didn't go over as well as I had hoped, but can certainly give it another shot.
I would definitely like to see another DIY week. Also, one dedicated to legs, underarms, etc. ("anyplace but the face week.)
