Happened to walk into a Walgreen's today and there were more pre-packaged box-sets of grooming related products than I could count (well, at least 10-12 different boxes/brands). Some, like this one, comes with a toiletry bag: Some more snaps of boxes available;
Dude, do you see the Gillette box in the top center? It has goo in the can and a 20 blade cartridge razor. OMG, the perils of Walgreens! Seriously, though, I have seen the same display at a local Walgreens. The CVS a couple blocks away has a similar display, although with a different mix of products.
Well Gillette can't just suddenly turn around and put some traditional product out there. It would signal that those Dyson ball contraptions might not be the best a man can get!
That was indeed tempting I've heard people liking the Dove +care products and was considering getting the $10 set but ended up just snapping the photos and walked away
They bought Art of Shaving, which immediately got them into the wetshaving marketplace. In five years time, they have expanded the chain from 31 stores to over 155. One of their Brotherhood of Shaving signs, which they place in malls containing their stores, states: “Repeat after us. I will not let my son shave with a plastic razor. Welcome to the brotherhood of shaving.” One of their spokesmen stated: “If we are going to win with men, we have to be serious about them.” P&G is definitely able to read the tea leaves. It is like what happened when the big mega-brewers started buying craft breweries. As you noted, they can just pour the current tea down the drain. A lot of guys still like cartridge razors and canned goo, perhaps due to performance or perhaps because they have not discovered anything better yet. Ref: This NY Times article
Very cool. I've had my eye on that Bath Time Paint Set for ages. Glad to see it finally went on sale.
why is that? some of these gift sets are nice. I know I've given my share of them away, received a few as well.
I walk through the shaving aisle of every store I enter. It's madness... I just opened the English Leather. I closed my eyes and it was like it was 1981 sitting with my maternal Grandfather in the early morning. He was kind of a grumpy granddad, but he loved us and we knew it, and he always smelled great at breakfast. Off to find British Sterling, he wore that too..
