It starts tomorrow, as I shaved last night - I am an every other day shaver. Arko Shave Soap Tweezerman Badger Brush New Derby for each shave One razor will go against another - each gets half my face. ========================== Fatboy gets a "bye". He is my trophy case razor with case. It's hard for me to take him out and get him dirty. Round 1 - Blue Tip vs Tech Round 2 - Krona vs Popular Round 3 - 70s Super Speed vs Slim Adj. (set to 2) Round 4 - Fat Boy (2) vs winner of round 1 Round 5 - W round 2 vs W round 3 Championship - W round 4 vs W round 5 When I find the winner, I think I will pack everything else up and go minimalist. One razor in my bathroom, as it was back in the good ol days when the men only HAD one razor. Don't think I can bring myself to sell everything, but perhaps one day...
I only have 1 DE in use and it is a British TV Rocket, everything else is either in a small display cabinet, or packed away, I have a box with about 8 straights that I rotate. Good luck in the tournament, which razor are you hoping wins??? or is it just left to the gods to decide???
That's a great question! It's hard not to go in with a bias, for sure. If I am being honest, I hope the Blue Tip wins. I just love how mild it is and that it is from the 50s. The Feather Popular is cheap and new, but dang it gives a great shave. I am curious as to how things turn out, myself.
For $10 you could have an open comb head: http://www.ebay.com/itm/S-D-Spare-P...d-for-Double-Edge-Shaving-Razor-/112216170678 What I mean is that it is a bit pity to take a minimalist approach before knowing the main categories of razors.... but that is of course just my opinion.
Pretty fun idea. I always like looking at other people's shave dens to see what they use. I won't ever buy a lot of razors. I have a 34C and my R41 coming today. If I do buy another one it'll probably be some kind of adjustable. That way I have a mild, adjustable, and a aggressive to have the full spectrum of types of shaves. Soaps and blades on the other hand.....I like your contest though. It's like a battle royal cage match for razors lol
I really need to pick a good blue tip, have a red tip, and I would love to find a 1951 black tip, birth razor. That's one good thing about being a old man, you can have a cool birth razor. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Of the bunch if I chose only one it would be the Slim simply because it's adjustable so I could have more or less razor as the circumstances warranted. I await your decision.
I have a W3 Black Tip (Q3, 1951) that you can have, in exchange for purchasing five raffle tickets for the current TSD raffle on the front page.
I know every face is different, but for me, each side is different. My left side shaves easier than the right. Maybe switch sides with the same combo just to make sure. Just a thought.
That R41 you've got coming quickly became my favorite DE type. Smoothest, closest shaves of all my DE's. Be careful with it though, it's got an attitude problem.
