Must be something about the first of the month. I was late starting October's first Theme Week, as well. Maybe 'cause Thanksgiving is only 2-1/2 weeks away. I don't know about you, but the older I get, the faster time seems to fly. Nah, gotta be just 'cause I'm getting older. This week's theme is TTO Week (Twist To Open), and will run from today, the 5th, to Sunday, the 11th. I know most folks think of Gillette and Schick DEs when it comes to the TTOs, but remember, you gotta twist the knob at the bottom of the Gem MicroMatic and Clog Pruf SEs!! Have fun, and share some pics!
After a few weeks of primarily using the fine Cadet TP-26 open comb, yesterday and today I have picked up the Gillette Slim H3 loaded with an Astra Stainless blade. For me this is one of the finest razor blade combinations. I'm a big believer in that their are certain razor charactertistics such as blade exposure, blade curve, overall weight that simply work better for me. The Gillette Slim is always great for me.
Got the Slim Twist M1(what Gillette called it) going today for an ace shave Personally I like a mild TTO. Seems to be an easy and forgiving shave...
Easy-peasy: today I used the rocket, so tomorrow it's the MMOC! Besides, they are the only TTO's I've got! BTW, does a straight count as a TTO as well? You've got to turn the handle to expose the blade...
I think you can make that argument-works for me. Surely my Friday "TTO" will be the type that requires a handle turn, and a stroppin'
With that argument, all razors are TTO - you have to twist the handle of a 2 or 3-piece to separate it from the head in order to load the blade. By the way, for me today it was my '55 Red Tip. Great shave.
Tuesday: Missed yesterday however I made up for it with Cadet TTO-13/Polsilver SI (3) Great shave and looks like the blade can go another round.
Oh Boy, there I was anticipating TTO Week and having my combo all laid out already and along came a new shiny SE which I have been testing all week so far - I have a feeling it will be my Gillette Super Speed Heavy's turn this WE, loaded with the Personna Med Prep. I only recently found that this is a particularly pleasing combination.
Loaded up the Schick Krona with the same Astra SP I've been using since Monday. Not a bad shave. I didn't notice until my second shave with this razor that the blade gap is definitely wider on one side than the other. Looks like maybe one of the doors was forced too far open and bent the bar down. Although easy to see even with the naked eye, it still gives a decent shave.
Thursday: Gillette Red Tip/Gillette 7 O'Clock Black (3) Really great face and head shave and the Ninja still has some life in it,I'll try another shave and see what happens
