Based on some very good buzz, I decided to try RazoRock’s new Tuscan Oud artisan soap and aftershave. I used the soap for three days in a row with a different brush each day. This is RR’s new formula with lanolin. It just about lathers itself. I got three slick, smooth, cushioning, nick free shaves. The best part though, is the scent. I believe it will become one of my favorites. I am trying hard to reduce the number of soaps and aftershaves in my Den, I am glad I got this combination! Soap Ingredients: Stearic Acid, Aqua (Water), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Parfum (Fragrance), Lanolin Aftershave Ingredients: Alcohol Denat, Aqua (Water/Eau), Parfum (Fragrance), Polysorbate 20, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Menthol, Dimethicolne Copolyol, Tetrasodium EDTA.
The only Oud variety I'm familiar with is Southern Oud by Country Club. I used it after a shave with Mitchell's Wool Fat and unfortunately smelled like my 90-year old great aunt for the rest of the day. The combination of MWF and Southern Oud was not the best for me! I want to try it again with a different soap. Are the CC Southern Oud and the RazoRock comparable at all?
Oud is a scent I am not familiar with. I have smelled the Figaro Gold soap and aftershave, which is suppost to be Oud scented, but I didn't detect much scent that I can remember. I almost pulled the trigger on this Tuscan Oud aftershave a while ago, but without enough knowledge of what the scent is, I was worried i would be smelling like a 90 year old woman lol.
I've been a wood worker since I got a pocket knife as a cub scout. I like the different scents of a variety of trees and their byproducts. Oud is a trees resin reaction to a fungus attack. I'm curious, can you describe the scent?
Well, just call me "Auntie". The scent is somewhat similar to Southern Oud, which is based on Creed Royal Oud, and also one of my personal favorites. Here is RR's description: "Tuscan Oud Italian shaving soap is a fusion between tobacco and oud wood. I was aiming for a cross between Tom Ford tobacco oud and Alt Innsbruck eau de cologne, basically an oud scent with an initial hit of perfumed tobacco flower."
"perfumed tobacco"? While I haven't tried a tobacco scent yet, that sounds like a contradiction in terms.
