While out today, I finally remembered to stop by Jo-Anne Fabrics to find some material to re-line some cases. There happened to be a sale going on, and after picking what I needed, it came out to be $2.55 for a square yard. The two cases I picked are from a Tuckaway with a short common handle and a Bostonian (Canada). The first pic showing the cases.......... Second pic after using paper to make patterns.......... Third pic showing the patterns glued onto the fabric, reversed of course.......... Fourth pic after the material was cut over sized by 1/4". Glued the fabric to the back of the steel inserts for the Tuckaway using super glue. The fabric glued to the back of the paper patterns for the Bostonian using Elmer's white glue and tacked in place using super glue. Just make sure the tab cut outs line up to the tray before doing it.......... Final pic showing everything in place. For the Tuckaway, just for looks, I used an Old Type head instead of it's New SC. And a spare blade bank, until I find the correct items..........
Thanks Jim, it's flannel cotton. I needed something thinner than felt so when the material is wrapped around the steel inserts in the Tuckaway, it would be easy to put them back in place.
One thing I should add is that there are a few variations in Gillette case lining colors. Some are a lighter shade of blue, while some have more of a purple hue. I picked this dark or navy blue like color more as a compromise, kind of in the middle. And a square yard will do a lot of cases.
Its great to see things like that redone nicely like that. I especially like that color, and that was a clever idea.
