Hate to throw everyone a curveball, but can we go in the opposite direction in terms of age? What are newest and mildest stainless steel razors out there? How do Ikons, Timeless, etc, stack up?

use of proper blades is best for old razors. By proper blades is, well with my old type. If I used modern stainless blades, the blades refuse to adhere to the shape of the base plate. And will normally lift about a 1/32 of an inch above the top plate making a hellish experience. The new standard 2 piece I had was the same way with real flexible blades.

I think the Feather ASD2 is toted to being one of the mildest SS razors out there. Also the Rockwell S6 with the #1 plate should be very mild.
