Vintage or Modern, which do you prefer?

    Do you prefer Vintage DEs or modern DEs. Granted the only modern razor I have used is a Weber and it works well with a Red , but I find my Slim is just beauteous. Perhaps it is just my perfect razor and I believe that it is. Maybe this is senseless babbling.

    I really like my Slim and Super Adjustable's a lot. I reach for the newer razors more often.

    I really have no interest in newer razors.

    I prefer vintage but I also think that is because I still associate wetshaving with 'days gone by' and find that it, to me, adds to the experience if I use an item made before I was even born. There is some intangible value that somehow is added through that.

    Nothing bad about modern razors at all (I have an EJ DE89L that is a fine razor) - but to me I enjoy incorporating a vintage item into my shaving ritual :)

    +1.

    The only truly new razor I've been curious enough to ask my wife for (it's on my b-day list) is the Parker 29L...and that's really only because it's a truly neuter (spayed?) clone of the Lady Gillette. If I don't like it, I'll put it aside for my girls, along with the pink Lady.

    Modern Merkur 3-pieces for me when it comes to DE. For some reason, the vintage ones, especially the SuperSpeeds just don't work as well with the geometry of my face. But, I also like my SEs (GEM and Injector).

    It would have been clearer had you stated that the first time.

    I only have one new razor and only bought it when I joined the Den just to see if I was missing something. I found out I wasn't. I'll stick with my vintage ones.

    I like all the shiny of new, but apart from the Weber PH, I don't see the quality that I find in vintage 3 piece razors. Gillette New is about as good as it gets for me!

    More specifically, I like my Schick Krona, Gillette Slim, Gillette Aluminum Tech, and I think I'm falling in love with the ER 1924.

    To be fair, the only modern razors I've used were a Parker 99r, Fatip Grande, and Weber PH. I love the Bulldog handle on the Weber, but I am not a fan of the Weber head. But let this be known, if you shave with a Weber like you would a Super Speed, you will pay for it in blood.

    Own both, use both. I used to own primarily vintage Gillettes, but the modern Mühles & Merkurs moved most of them out (sold!). Sold all the Merkurs.
    I still have all the Mühles and two Gillettes Techs remaining.

    I have to say "Honestly I prefer to use my razors in this order:
    The Razors that I really like
    1} Weber 3pc. S/S Polished Head 85mm Classic Handle
    I use this one not most of the time but close.
    2} 1967 M-3 Gillette Knack TTO/DE {issued to me in Boot Camp}
    3} 1951 Gillette W-2 Super Speed DE/ TTO {Birth Year Razor}

    I like my Weber 3pc. I use it more often, than most. I use my Knack because it's a TTO/DE Razor. So it's a really close toss up as to which is my Favorite
    Being as I have problems with both hands going numb I have a hard time changing blades......
