Having a bit of fun in the shop today I went out there to just polish out the "Expert Honing" on this W&B on the buffers. My thinking to just slap some layers of tape on after and get it shaving for Marty so he could at least shave with it.. (NOT his honing) I just couldn't do it, and I was having fun.. Popped an 80 grit belt on the 2x72 and started grinding away.. Stopped grinding at 600 grit Went to the buffers at 600 polished it a bit, then some SS compound to soften it all and blend it.. Nice new pretty darn even bevel set on the Chosera 1k heading to the 5k 10k and finally a Select Coticule after lunch I think the burned thumb tips were worth it. ps: Gracie the Grouse came over to hang out while I was smoking a cigar on the porch (For those that haven't ever seen her, she is a wild grouse that adopted me almost 3 years ago, she follows me all over when I go outside) Having Fun !!!! Making Sparks fly
Glenn, that’s some nice work! I have a W&B that looks just like that in the “before” pictures. It’s probably been well used in the past and I never could hone it to a true shave ready state. Maybe there’s hope for mine after all.
Wow, excellent job! I know next to nothing about honing and would have gave up before starting. I have a family heirloom ... chefs knife, about 80 years old that needs TLC; if you feel like trying something different.
It should be arriving back home today or tomorrow and that is what I am hoping to hear from the owner "Are you sure this my razor"
