The Merkur Futur adjustable razor has been around for sometime now. Seeing many good reviews on it I decided to get one but I've noticed that there were two different cap designs. The caps' undersides were different. Does anyone know if there was a design change and what the differences are?
Looks like the engagement pin's sides being machined would give a more predictable blade alignment. This would allow a more exact alignment of the cap to the razor it seems. Of course there's cost to the extra step. Since I don't which one is newer design, I can't say if they were fixing that issue, or decided that it wasn't necessary and decided to eliminate the step to simplify production.
