Your favorite modern rock band's favorite band: Here Comes Your Man Dig for Fire/Allison Head On (J&MC cover)
Imho, the best Pixies track, and a track that heavily influenced Grunge. Kurt Cobain said in a Rolling Stone interview that he always hoped that his band could sound as good as the pixies.
I've been listening to the Billy Joel channel on SiriusXM. And I'll probably listen 'til it goes down again.
I'm in a melodic death metal mood today. What is melodic death metal you say? It's essentially very aggressive thrash metal with death metal style vocals. So it's more aggressive than thrash, but not as brutal as death metal. Characteristics of melodic death metal include lots of kick drums, twin guitar leads, monster riffs and guttural style vocals.
A great tune by of the best U.K. Bands to come out of the late 80's. This is "Driving South" by the Stone Roses. It has some of my favorite blues lyrics ever written by someone born outside the USA. Driving South Driving south 'round midnight, man, I must have been insane Driving south 'round midnight in a howling hurricane I stopped for an old man hitcher at a lonely old crossroad He said "I'm going nowhere I'm only here to see if I can steal your soul" "I'm not trying to make you, I don't want to touch your skin I know all there is to know about you and all your sins Well, you ain't too young or pretty, and you sure as hell can't sing Any time you want to sell your soul... I've got a toll-free number you can ring!"
If you haven't heard this one, or get a chance to, it is the best Traffic set I have ever heard. I have had a copy of this since the '80s, and it is an all time favorite.
