Oops... almost forgot, also waiting on a few new additions to the den: Ballenclaugh Honey Tobacco B&M Petrichor Labelle Forest Moss soap
Another DeHaven, looks like the Diplomat version. Comes with a G. I just sold all my Gs, can't seem to shake these things. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I hope they all function & clean up well. Have you checked Date Codes? I suspect you will be getting PM's shortly. So many Shavers, so few @195's.
Not sure why people say this . There are always 120+ Fatboys available on eBay at any one time. They are common razors. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I hope they function. Seller said they were stiff and just wanted them sold. No info on the dates, but hope they are pre 60; I really like those, but any Fat Boy's a good Fat Boy. For the price I had to do it.
The Limited Edition syndrome. They only made a bazillion of them during a span of years. Some percentage are damaged, dropped in a river, lost forever. The remaining ones are either in the hands of shavers that appreciate them, still tucked away in hidey holes awaiting children to go through their parents estates, or on ebay at artificially inflated prices. I passed up the first one I saw at an antique store. It was ebay priced at $45. Within a week I found another for $5. The Inflation Calculator suggests that a Model 195 that sold for $1.95 in 1959 would now set you back $16.34, or about the price of a new Chinese Flare Tip repro. I personally get a better shave with a Fat Boy than Weishi / MicroTouch One/ VDH DE.
I paid twice what I had paid for any of my other vintage Gillettes ($45, about average), and didn't find it shaved any better than any of them (let alone my cheap SE and Injectors) so out it went for the same $45. Nine ways to mediocre is still mediocre no matter how shiny. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
You're gonna love it. An SA-109 and a Voskie=a great shave. I'm willing to bet the short handle will be the same.
