What Kind of Blades do a Gem Slant Use?

Discussion in 'Safety Razors' started by Richard Dunbar, Sep 2, 2014.

  1. I am assuming they can take a DE razor blade but please correct me if I am wrong. Also any Gem users out there and how do you like your slant razor?

:signs011: But if they did, I'm sure they would use GEM blades.

I'm pretty sure this doesn't exist. But it would be awesome if it did.

I think the op may be referring to se razors in general.

A DE Slant such as a Merkur 37-39c will use any double edge blade you like. A Gem single edge razor will use a single edge blade, not as many options as you find in the DE world.

    that's a gem
    bullet tip
    single edge
but it is not what is refered to as a slant.
there are a few razors called slant but are not slant razors.
I have not heard the one pictured called a slant before.
to answer your question, they use single edged razor blades. a bunch of guys like them, swear by them even.
I have a few of them. but as of yet have not found the blades I'm happy with.
    good luck, happy shaving

That's not a slant razor. It's a standard SE GEM. A slant razor has a diagonal leading edge, not one that's straight across and there's no such thing (AFAIK) as an SE slant.

That razor (which is a good shaver, btw) takes standard SE blades. You can sometimes find them in your local drugstore in a carbon steel version. Stainless steel would have to be ordered. DO NOT get SE blades at Home Depot or similar... these look the same but are for box cutters and the like... they are NOT suitable for shaving.

A case of the seller not knowing what they are selling. Also a case where the buyer can find a deal.

Look HERE for info on what blades to use, where to get them, etc.

That bullet tip MM is a great razor. Congratulations. I prefer the GEM/Personna blades you can get at Walgreens. They are stainless/PTFE coated. Very smooth blades.

I am confused by this. I believe I can get the same stainless that Connaught sells locally. Should I not be able to? Or am I really not getting those?

Anything is possible. I should say that I've only seen carbon steel locally. But, other areas could carry stainless.
