Guys, I know this has been a thread before, but I can't find it anywhere? It seems there is a great variation in the ingredients of a barbershop scented soap but what should be the basic ingredients (scent wise) bergamot, lavender....
I have a Colgate Barbershop soap from a PIFer, along with Clubman A.S. and expect to make a purchase soon of Ghost Town Barber(Chiseled Face). I'll thus be able to compare all three once I get them going. Should be interesting. Stay tuned, fellas.
Thank you to @Yehuda D for reminding me I have the Stoylin Barbershop soap, too. It's a great one, all right.
The old school barbershops I went to in my youth used Pinaud clubman. So that is the scent I associate with a barbershop. From what I've learned is that it all depends on where you were from as to what a barbershop scent is. Americans will differ from Italians and Turks.
Its a YMMV thing really. Take stirling barbershop. Its way vanilla but called barbershop. I have several favorites but I'm not sure I could describe the scent ingredients
I have two soaps that were made to be barbershop soaps...one is colgate barbershop the other Marvys. Neither have much scent.
OSP barbershop is nice. I'm not much for scents but this is the description from the website... "Barbershop - Bergamot, lavender, patchouli, cedar wood and a touch of basil to take you back to the roots of wet shaving!" I'm only 31 so I don't really have an "old fashioned barbershop smell" in my head but I like this one.
London based Artisan soap maker, Obsessive Soap Perfectionist. Maybe more of an English thing. It's nice though
