Kevin, you are motivating me to start doing some of my restorations. I love the way yours turn out.

Thanks, Brian. There are plenty of old gems hiding out there awaiting restoration!
This old Fenney is all original (hardware and horn scales) and required only a good, thorough cleaning and honing to bring it back to life.

On the road. I'm not as cool as Brian but I brought my Feather DX along for good luck.

Todays shave was with a French Rattler Razor(Faux Frameback). I had touched it up on the Arkansas Surgical Black stone. It was a "Mehhh" shaver before, and could give a DFS if needed. Today was a 2 pass shave, with minor touchup on the chin. It delivered a very smooth BBS shave, on the face. It will no longer be put in the "Box of Shame".

Old Cast Steel. First shave after cleaning, polishing, and finishing the blade on the Arkie. This old wedge anhailated a day and a half's growth without even realizing it. I wiped the lather off as I can't tell by feel if it's cutting. I have to see it;). Perfect shave. Only one cut...on my thumb while putting it away :angry032: Needless to say; it passed the thumb pad test :D

Great job. Don't you love resurrecting a really old razor, and putting it to use again??

I hate the thumb pad test. Though it really does demonstrate, in a memorable way, just how sharp a razor is.

Birth year Russkie after an Arkie tune up: The Russians on an Arkie feel like they are made for each other and the resulting shave was very nice. It was a funny shave though, the stubble was heavier than usual and the reduction was just average but the blade was sharp - I judge this by how it works in tight spots and ATG on the lip. Is my technique going down the hopper? At any rate, the end result was nothing but face-rubbing goodness and minimal noise from the alum. Da Comrades, it was Glorious to Return to the Motherland. :happy102:

Tonight's shave was with a Japanese Frameback razor. I had a good 2 pass shave, with touchups. I was left with a DFS and no issues.

Flic, which is a great shaver. I originally bought this one as the blade looked in great condition. In fact, it looked unused. The issue is there is cracking near the hinge pin. I'm considering a rescale in honey horn. Either way, an all around excellent shave tonight:)
