NOT my handle or my work. All credit goes to @gdrattin on Instagram who I'd recommend you follow So you start with something like this... ..and pull out your knife and a piece of wood... ..and after some time...and skill...you have this: From the start..to the WIP...to the finished handle: Ready to be used for years to come
Look up some of the posts by @Doryferon and you will find how he remodels these razors using a variety of materials. Here are just a couple! http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/spare-de-razor-handle.27603/ http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/bronze-spare-de-razor-handle.28660/
I think that it would be a good looking handle if "whittling" marks were left on the handle: a more rustic look.
Thanks for the shout out DarkBulb! Also, thanks for the kind words guys. Jayaruh, I actually thought about that. I kind of wish I would have left the whittling marks on there. I was planning on using a metal stamp set and stamping some words on the side which is why I decided to make it smooth but it didn't quite work out. If I ever do another one which is very likely I'll def leave the whittle marks. Thanks for sharing those links GDCarrington! Some very nice work!
I've been laying low the past few months mostly because I've been growing a beard but I'm definitely going to be on more often now.
Jayaruh Haha! Yep. Still traditionaly wet shave my neck... I think other than my beard another reason I haven't been as active is my "AD's" really died down... Darkbulb Definitely should see some SOTD pics coming!
