Home made Greek Spinach Pie.......................Sorry Popeye I cannot eat plain spinach from a can because everything is FRESH home made.
I remember seeing his scrawl on the sides of Cotton Belt boxcars up until like the mid-'70s. I still look for it when I'm stuck at train crossings. Mostly what I see nowadays is cheap tagger crap. Ain't like the old days. (Come to think of it, it's been a good while since I've seen a Cotton Belt boxcar. Sad.)
Here's what I had for dinner tonight. Just got back from the monthly winemakers dinner at a local restaurant - they do one a month during the winter. Next month will be the last one until next Fall. Gives me a chance each month to act like I'm civilized and able to function in a social environment. Also it gave me an excuse to shave today when I normally don't save on Tuesdays.
In Arkansas it is gravy. Call it sauce and they'll look at you with questioning eyes. Wooo pig sooie. Razorbacks!!!!!
Italian colloquialism for pasta sauce. It does seem only east coast though. My west coast Italian family never called it that.
Just got home from O'Charley's with SWMBO. We had the sirloin. Free pie Wednesday, so we finished off with French Silk pie. Delicious.
I can tolerate the East coast Italian 'gravy' for 'sauce' usage, being worn down by its use for years by my New Jersey in-laws. What rankles me is hearing people out here asking for "Queso Cheese sauce" or "queso cheese" in grocery stores or restaurants. Here's another: "Salsa sauce"— as in "Can we get another bowl of salsa sauce for our chips?'
