    My Go-To blades:

SE: Pal Super. We're talking smooooooooth.
DE: Store brand (such as Family Dollar) Platinum Chrome blades made by American Safety Razor. They are not the same as the Personna brand blades sold at Wal*Mart. Loaded in my Slim, these give me the closest, most comfortable, most irritation-free shaves ever.

I went through my blade samples last night and I have catagorized the blades I've used by like or dislike. The 7 oclock blades were among the blades I disliked. I'm going to try them again tonight and see if my bad experience with them was due to other factors, like maybe I wasn't using one of my better soaps/creams, or maybe I was just having a bad shave day that day. Tonight I will try the 7 oclock with Tabac, then I'll know for sure if it was the blade or not.

Hrm. The Personnas I found at my local Wal-Mart had the ASR label on the back of the package.

Feathers in mild-shaving razors. Crystals in aggresive razors.

    Feathers and Gillette yellows.

Surprised by the number of posts not liking the yellows. Tried numerous blades and the yellows edge out the derbys, astra superiors and sharps as an everyday blade.

Both the store-brand and Personna brand blades are indeed made by American Safety Razor. They are, however, slightly different from each other in the way that they shave. They are both dirt cheap, so try both and see which one you prefer. :D

We were discussing this in this thread http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10331 apparently it is a US made Personna if I understood all of that correctly

I'm also using a Gillete tech and get excellent results with the Personna Reds. Your post makes me want to try the Feathers too.

I haven't even thought about giving a straight a try yet. I'm still learning how to use a DE.

No mention of Voskhod's, Gillette 7 o'clock Greens and other Russian steel. Very interesting. Only an 8 year gap and the game has vastly changed

Most blades from the Mostochlegmash factory work very well for me.
After having shaved with drugstore blades (mostly from the Israel factory in Nazareth) for ages, I bought a thousand of Russian blades, and couldn't be happier. Actually more like 1500, so I am set until I am in my eighties ;)

Still all over the map, and it depends on the razor. But I use more Derby Extras than anything else in most razors. Except with my 1940's Ball End Tech - that one gets Feathers. That's a perfect match.
