Does the baby cereal help it lather? :D

No one has noticed that yet! Just happened to be there; we've been babysitting my nephew!

I rather like Williams myself. Once you get your water correct it lathers as well as any other soap. I've never used the old stuff only the new. I like the smell also.

    Personally, I can't stand the skeeter-be-gone smell.
And the lather is never consistent from one shave to the next. Folks will say you just have to work at it, but I refuse to fight with a soap just to get a good lather.
And I find it breaks down to quick for my taste (maybe if I added the baby cereal).
But that leaves all the more for the folks who do like it! Enjoy your Williams!! :happy088:

Like Williams????? Hmmmmmm that is a stretch for me :D

But I do think it will always have a place in my shave den, I also like to recommend it to Newbs for lathering practice, because if you can manage to learn to lather Williams and get it to work at all, then any other soap is just plain easy peasy :bounce015:

:) Howdy! I'm still using Williams in my rotation. I add 3 drops of glycerin to the warm scuttle and with Williams on my brush, I make warm lather. It has worked OK for me so far. It is cheap and easy to work with. Always, Gene

Williams does benefit greatly from a few glycerine drops.

I can lather it perfectly and it works wonderfully. Seems like some have huge issues with it, some don't. I'm glad I was blessed with the Williams lathering gift! The scent? It's just...classic to me.

I like the modern version a lot, I stocked up a few months ago when Kroger was clearancing it out, but the vintage stuff is in a whole different class.

I like Williams, but it was one of the first soaps I ever tried because it and Colgate were all I could get my hands on (or even knew existed) when I started using a mug and brush in 1992.

Hoosier, the only place I have around is a local CVS and they have like one or two pucks left. I'll have to get them because no one else around here has them.

I struggle with New Williams. Every now and then I can get it right, but I use it a lot for uber lather. A few drops of glycerin, a dollop of shave cream, some thin foamy Williams, equals magic. I find newer Williams and the newer Colgate such hard soaps to lather. Now the old vintage stuff rocks though.

I don't mind it. However, it's mighty drying on my skin ... not good. Maybe in a more humid climate?
