The newest version Guy, it's become difficult to find the older one and at the price I saw one for on eBay it just wasn't worth it for me.
SOTD - February 23, 2016 Gillette Heavy Tech / Gillette Silver Blue Omega / Santa Maria del Fiore WH / shea butter I am back to the Santa Maria del Fiore. This time I did a bowl lather instead of my usual face lather. Lather just wasn't up to par...but that was likely my fault and not the cream. Just not used to bowl lathering. It has such a strange consistency...a firm cream...a soft soap? Not sure which one it is... Yet another nice shave with the GSB this morning. Amazing blade -- the perfect combination of sharp and smooth. The judges have even been considering calling the Rusty Blade "King of the Castle" blade trial to a halt because it is not likely any of the remaining blades in the trial will come close to this Gillette Silver Blue! Still a few days left in the week. Maybe it will fizzle by day 5, 6 or 7? Who knows...stay tuned.
Had both and kept the '11. I cannot use the '11 past two days as it is too harsh. Have you tried a Fatip yet?
Read that too but guess I was lucky as I had three now just two Grande(black) and Piccolo and none had the alignment issues. Finish they are low on the quality side but very efficient razors.
Currently snowing here in southern Colorado. Have roughly 4-6" at the moment and more is expected. It has been a very warm February, so I guess the weather is just reminding us it is still winter. Now on to today's shave 2-23-16 Razor: British Aluminum Tech D4 Blade: Voskhod (3) Lather: "Maya" by Mason Boutique face lathered Had an okay shave today. The new to me British tech is a good performing razor. Just a little light, feels even lighter than my travel techs. But those are not Aluminum so it makes sense. This particular Voskhod was beginning to tug on its 3rd shave so it goes by by now. I usually toss it after 3 anyways, but the 3rd is still normally quite sharp but oh well. The blade tugging caused some irritation my neck and a small cut on the chin, but was still not my worst shave ever.
Feb. 23/2016 Razor: Gillette Tech by jmaier. Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux. Brush: VDH Badger. Cream: Proaso White Bowl: Dinner Table Salad Bowl. AS: Nivea Balm. Oil: Homemade. With a near perfect razor by our own jmaier, I commenced shaving that was soon to be apparent that I had in my hands, something special. The 1st pass was actually all I really needed, a sure DFS. But I continued for the sheer love of wet shaving and low and behold, BBS. After a light rinse, the Proaso was still slick as sn#t, so just a light, I mean LIGHT clean up(and not really needed), I had to force myself to quit. Most enjoyable, a happy camper am I. Bill
SOTD: Tuesday, February 23 Proraso Sapone SOC Boar Feather AS-D2 Personna Med Prep (2) Proraso AS & Balm The lather was a bit better today, but still not to the level I had last week, so afterwards, I grabbed my CH2 Synthetic and went to work. Palm-lathered a MAGNIFICENT lather...It's the brush!!! The SOC Boar is soft and I do like it, but the CH2 Synthetic is a LATHER MACHINE. I am going to try my M6 Manchurian tomorrow. Stay tuned for the results. Have a great day!
