Do you shake it to increase aggression? Because that would be kind of cool.

I have my fingers crossed for voice control with the trigger word "Razor" to initiate any command.

"Razor, medium aggression and open comb. Engage!"

    Seriously addicted.

That said, a few hints start to come out. It looks like some kind of modular system consisting of a handle and (presumably) interchangeable heads for both DE and one or more cartridge formats. Nothing too crazy here. We've had third-party Mach3 and Fusion handles for some time, so it's not a big leap to interface one to a standard handle which could be used on a DE.

There is the "Active Shaving Assist Illuminator" which sounds more like a feature on a Lexus, but must be some kind of light. So, the flashlight razor rears its head again! The "active" part seems odd, but is presumably part of the intelligence of the system.

It has a "pulsation motor", so it must vibrate. In other words, a Stably live blade for the 21st Century.

And it must be hi-tech and light weight since its made of Aircraft Grade Aluminum (is there an alternative to that one? Soda can grade aluminum? Foil grade aluminum?) and Titanium.

Finally, they mention a subscription model for blades and men's products. I guess this means they want a piece of the Dollar Shave Club and Harry's markets.

That really just leaves the "Intelligent Module Core" and "Motion Activated Control and Programming" to really be explained. At this point, I'd be disappointed to learn that it is just a bit of hardware to tell which side of the lights to turn on and when to start the motor. On the other hand, I honestly can't imagine how much more you could instrument or automate a razor.

Final thought- I'm wondering if the technology part is a bit of a red herring and the "intelligence" will end up being something to do with how smart it is to use their subscription service over their competition.

I think you've nailed it with your descriptions. The only other way to make it intelligent is to incorporate features not assigned to shaving for example a timer or alarm clock. Otherwise, unless this maps your face to adjust the head there really isn't any way to automate the shave. The mapping part would be cool though, I'm picturing Rodney Dangerfield in Caddy Shack with his putter.

With the "pulsation motor" and exchangeable heads, I'm hoping that I can hook up my toothbrush.:lyrtuy5:

I'm fairly certain that I'm smarter than my vintage and modern day razors. I do not desire to push my luck. Not!

    Hi Guys,

I just found this interesting discussion. It is a mystery this PHI Razor that is being talked about. I am in the fortunate position of knowing all about it.
We're just a couple of days away from going live on Kickstarter where everything will be made clear.
Unfortunately the PHI Razor is not smart enough to shave you by itself, or send text messages.
Fortunately, it is not $500. Early backers on Kickstarter are $99 USD with top level at $165 USD. Retail will be $225 USD. All backers also get a razor blade (3 blade cartridge and safety blade) sample pack.
Hopefully this is something that the shaving community will appreciate. We have spent the last year trying to make this a reality and created something unique.
Here is an early release of info that I just posted on our facebook page.[IMG]

This is all ahead of the press release going out so you heard it here first!

I was thinking individual units that we could write glowing reviews on but a pass-around would be alright also

Your early release of info is not viewable. Hopefully that's not an important message from the razor.
