My dad shaved with an E3. I have it now. It has a handle that he made for it. It is pretty aggressive though. I can get good shaves with it if I am careful.
That's neat having that from your pa. I was to late asking my dad, he chucked his old razors and switched to an electric due to bad eyes.
This one causes some confusion and leads to the Mixed Head & Handle Thesis which is a Myth..The Type G 1 was introduced on 1946 as you say..Here is the twist though..The Early Type G 1s had Schick Injector stamped on the spring the same as the Type E s..This was part of the takeover agreement when Eversharp took over the Company from the Schick Repeating Razor Company...The Eversharp stamp never showed up on a Type G 1 until mid 1947...You have an early Type G 1..There is no mismatch of handles & heads.. Billy..
My brother gave it to me after my Dad died. He also had a Gillette OC three piece that I remember, and I would love to have gotten that, but didn't. I am glad to have the E though. His craftiness was an inspiration to me. I made a handle from birds eye maple for this E.
I have one coming from the bay. Looked okay for $9. But I'm ignorant of these, but having RAD makes one lose all sensibilities
We'll have to see the condition once I get him home. The pics aren't that good and you can never believe what the seller puts in print. With that said, I've made several pretty good scores from the bay. Thanks for the ID, Billy!
Thank you Billy. This is great info. I have bookmarked this thread for future reference. You should really write that book. I'd buy it.
Okay, my razor showed up today. The razor and case were in very good condition. Not sure what the case and razor match. Case numbers: Box No. 98-50, Made in U.S.A. pat. No. 2441857 The numbers on the razor: Patent 1937, Made in Canada. I'm not sure what it all means, but I'm anxious to take it for a ride. First thing is to find some blades.
Yeah..Thats a Mismatch of Case & Razor..That's a Later Eversharp Type G 1 Case & a Canadian Type E 3 Injector.. Billy..
so how about we resurrect this thread??? i am gonna throw another wrench into the mix, i got my first injector the other day. It was given to me by a friend and its a g4 series but doesnt have the chrome/ silver head it has the gold head and one of the collector sites has put it as a g4a it has blue handle and gold head. pics arent the best. they were made from what i understand Only in 1949......
