Once you get the lather burly up a little better it will provide the protection you need and you will notice less and less irritation. Also remember, no pressure against your face, let the blade do the work! Congrats on your first DE shave!

Reached for the R41 today and was reminded of why I keep alternating between the 'goose and the Futur. This shave was far from smooth! Admittedly the blade may have seen quite a few shaves and then left to rest in the razor since, which may have an impact too, but this razor is biting. Replaced it for the Futur for the second pass - whole lot better!

    Muhle R41 2013 / Merkur Futur

    NF2401 brush
    Proraso Pre/Post sensitive

Bid you all gents and ladies a marvelous Wednesday, particular thoughts to our @Queen of Blades going through an operation today.

I'm a sucker for dry, smoky vetiver. Have seen the Royall a few times here and there. How would you describe it, or what would you compare it to (colognes/soaps/etc)?

Thanks for asking! The process is going well and is indeed 54 consecutive days (since 1Jan 2016). Shaves 1-20ish weren't that great, I cut myself a few times. By shave 40 if felt more natural and I gave up the DE safety net, and shaves 45-54 pretty darn good! I've committed to use only straight razors (I have 2) from January through the end of March 2016. Not to minimize or anything, but it got kinda easy once I relaxed and quit trying merely to avoid injury, and just picked up the blade and started shaving. Fear held me back at first, but I'm all good now. A two pass shave is about 15 minutes or so, and I find it the best 15 minutes of my day in many ways.

Good morning everyone. Absolutely wonderfully, comfortable dolphin smooth shave this morning in three passes wtg, xtg, atg. No touchups needed with this razor, no blade buffing needed, no repeated strokes over the same area, just awesomeness. The Voskhod's are silky smooooth in this razor. :love055: Proraso is such a lovely cream to work with for face lathering to me, it layers so nicely. Stirling Mita finishes my shaves beautifully with soothing, cooling, comforting icey goodness. Have a great shave and a great day friends. :)
