My face is so frozen from this heavy-duty menthol bombardment - the Glacial Lemon Chill soap, Diana balm, and Arctique aftershave are lethal, frigid weapons that a Freeze Freak need in their Dens. The Junjie razor with the new Astra worked very well for me and my Plissoft brush worked up tons of awesome lather! :happy088: :happy088:

Hello TSD - my second shave with a Straight today

    2902 Kopie.jpeg

    - PannaCrema Namaste
    - Whipped Dog Synthetic
    - T.W. Lang „The Gaelic“

    later:
    - RazoRock Little Bastone
    - Tüff sensitiv Rasierwasser
    - Jeris Musk

I’m actually a little proud of myself  I performed a complete pass WTG with the straight razor, including the neck. It was by no means perfect, but much better than my first try.

I think I figured out what the main problem was last time: the grip. I usually hold my DE razors very loose, no firm grip, no pressure. I took that over to the straight shave and that did not work so well. This time I held the razor more firmly, stretched the skin more and used just a liiiiiitle more pressure … guess that did the trick.

Two different approaches on my left side of the face - I used the left hand first, then the right hand. I think it was actually easier shaving the left side with my right hand, but maybe it’s just a matter of practice. Had to figure out the best way to hold the razor while shaving my neck, because the hair grows S-N there … well, somehow it worked. I did not cut myself, removed quite some hair - but that one pass took about as long as a complete 3-pass-shave with a DE razor ;)

I finished with the RazoRock Little Bastone, which is actually a surprisingly good, inexpensive razor. Pretty much BBS, Aftershave did not burn much … I think I did okay.

    Menthol Monday!

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Chinese Schick
Razor: Schick G1 Injector (late 1940s)
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: Proraso Green shaving soap
Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD SubZero after shave, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Well.......today was a rougher shave than normal. It was going well until I hit some kind of bump right under my nose and nicked it pretty badly. That was the worst nick I've had in a long, long time. It wasn't carelessness or laziness but just an accident. Then I ended up with some irritation on my lower neck to the right of the Adam's apple. I'm pretty smooth otherwise, except for the point of my chin (that's a hard spot for me to get smooth anyway).

Proraso Green is a great soap and I think the the Satin Brush does a great job of lathering and holding the lather. I am disappointed in the nick under my nose and the irritation, but most of my face is pretty smooth, so I'll take some consolation in that.

Hope you have a great Monday!

    Plisson/L'Occitane brush
    CO Bigelow SC
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe
    Pinaud Lime Sec w/added menthol

I always get a great shave when using CO Bigelow SC, it's just perfect for me. Doesn't seem to matter what else I use either. Anyway, I'm ready to go. Now go enjoy your day folks.
