I believe it to be 5or6/8 full Spike Point. The point made me consider my movements more deliberately. What I've observed about the Aust is the feedback and the glide. The round point of the Aust allows for quick shaves, but its weight requires a little hand pressure. The WD is more silent, and smiles a bit, and is slightly pointed.

The Luxury is really nice soap, the scent screams barber shop sandalwood, but in a good way.

    Huge Arko fan here.

I'm in for a 30-day focus. I might try a 30-day rule another time, but for now, I'm enjoying rotating through my soaps too much to limit myself to one soap for 30 days.

For my 30-day focus, I'll be using my 1959 Gillette Ball Tech, Feather blades, and my synthetic brush.

Thanks, Chris! And thanks for starting the thread to get us on board to start our rule (or focus). :)

That's a nice $14 razor! The antique shops and flea markets here never seem to have anything like that. I like the look of your razor, though.

I really enjoyed this morning's shave. The Citricos whipped up a very nice lather effortlessly and the scent is great. Since I had a fresh blade, I changed things up and went with a 2 pass shave, XTG and ATG. Not quite as efficient as the Mongoose but that could be the difference between a DE blade and a SE Blade. After minor touch ups, I ended with a near BBS. Finished with a splash of F&C Shambala. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Welcome aboard! I'm sure you'll enjoy your time here. Best of luck with your shaves! I'm using a 1953 Ball Tech for my first 12 shaves this month. Checking out 3 blades in 3 of my razors. I added an extra blade for the Tech.

This was my last DE shave before moving to my SE focus. However, it was the first time (that I can remember, anyway) shaving with a Feather blade on day four. It tugged a bit toward the end of the shave, so I think three shaves and out with a Feather blade is good for me.

Overall, it was a good shave, though. Two passes (ATG and XTG) provided near BBS results. I just go slow and enjoy the experience of stretching the skin and paying close attention to the sound and feel of the blade against my skin. This should help me when I start using my straight. I have really enjoyed the last three months with my DEs, and I have improved my shaving technique.

I can see more of the bottom of the Route 66 Lumberjack container each day. I've been intentionally working my soap inventory down over the last few months. I celebrated my progress by ordering a Tabac shave stick refill yesterday. :D

I hope you all have a blessed day.

    March focus shave 2

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Personna lab blue (2)
Razor: Maggard MR1 handle with V2 open comb
    Brush: Trader Joe's synthetic
    Lather: Proraso White shaving soap
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Pretty nice shave this morning. I'm closer to DFS than on most weekdays. I almost stopped after just the one pass but I went in and touched up my neck. The Proraso lathered beautifully this morning - really thick, nice, slick lather. The Trader Joe's brush is working really well now that I've had some time to use it. I took a tip from Clint @clint64 about using more water for the synthetic brushes. That has resulted in some really good lathers the past three days. All in all a good shave.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday!

Getting more comfortable. I was using too light of a grip at times, a firmer grip helps. Still working on exact strokes to use, but still three pass, @Norcalnewb Baseball Pattern. Not DFS, but CCS maybe. Alum didn't complain much, nor did the Clubman. Have a great day all!

    Thanks, Clint.

The soap is one my parents found while on a river cruise in France this past summer. It has a nice, light, lavender scent with a hint of lemon. While it doesn't lather quite as easily as MdC, it does work very well. The lather is pretty slick with some good cushion. The post shave feel is good as well.

    Thank you.

Thanks for the update on the soap. When I work the current soap inventory down, I will be looking to get some different soaps. So I am always on the look out for different or usual offerings.

Perry, I am glad the tip worked out. Synthetic brushes just work a different from natural hair offerings. Once you get synthetics dialed in, I have found them to produce consistently good lather.
