Had another brilliant shave today with my C2, man I can't go wrong with this razor! Tomorrow I'm going to try the C1 and will see if there is any difference.
Here's my post from today's SOTD thread Wednesday: hot shower w/Saponificio Artigianale Fiorentino Rose Blossom bar soap ShaveSecret PSO Bunny V3 2+ passes Schick (3) Semogue Owners Club badger Cyril R Salter Wild Rose cream in a warm bowl Thayers Rose w/aloe TSD Victorian Rose A/S I'm not one to have the camera in the bathroom but, even with too much steam in the air for a good picture, I couldn't resist the urge to take a photo of how much lather a little bit of Cyril R Salter cream produces. Always an outstanding performer. Third shave with the Bunny and I tried something different. I've been holding it like a traditional razor and finding that I kept losing my angle. I would start okay but then gradually drop the angle too far. Today I decided since part of the inspiration for this razor was the Schick H model, to try holding the razor just above the top of the handle, gripping it similarly to the way I would hold onto a Schick H. It seemed to work a little better in that it kept me more focused on the proper angle. I could feel the rivets with my fingers and my thumb was touching the comb screw. This put the end of the handle against the inside of my palm and the result was that I did indeed keep the angle where it should be. Now its probably time to leave the Mild comb behind and go back to the Notso comb.
I received my Type F today. So I promptly set about cleaning it up. I only scrubbed it with Dawn and then gave it a polish. I did not want to send the dings out as they are not horrible. I did however remove the last of the gold plating from the spring. Just so it is a more even look. The last person to use it was using twin blades in it. I was a bit concerned that the spring was buggered. I loaded a new blade and it seems to be fine. It does not move. I will be shaving with this tomorrow. Here are before and after pictures.
Dang! What a transformation, when I saw the first pic...I thought it was unsaveable but you proved me wrong.
Well, that put Cyril R. Salter on my radar screen... I loved reading what you said about changing your grip. I found the same thing. It was easier for me to grip up. Really nice shave report.
Yes it cleaned up pretty decent. There are not too many big dings in it. I may spend some time with some fine sand paper to remove some dings. For now I plan to use it as is. Tom
West Coast Shaving carries the CRS products. The first CRS cream I got (and still have) was the French Vetiver. If you like vetiver it's a very nice version, a very heady scent for me. The next one I want to try is called Sublime Citrus.
That Looks Beautiful Tom..The same as Mine..There is No Gold Plating... That's pure Copper & it Shines as it Should.. Billy..
Schick E2 (Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada) E2 are not for the faint of heart. Superb shaving device that can knock down a multi-day growth with little fanfare when handled correctly. Can be man-eaters if pushed. I like them.
I just saw the preview for the Batman vs Superman movie....and of course fell-out thinking of this!...... No doubt about it.....we know who the loser was....the truth is in where the underwear is worn.... Three cheers to our resident Scot!
Yeah......thats what they say here......they have to be afaid.....if word got out that Superman got his a$$ k!@ked by one of our Denizens.......well it could affect movie ticket sales.....therefore this cover-up video.....at least we had Hodge to hip us up to the real story...........
3/3/16 SOTD Valet AutoStrop with carbon feather (1) First time using one of these blades. They started out just fine, smooth, sharp, I was pleasantly surprised. But during the 3 pass it began tugging. Could it really get dull that quickly? Will have to try them out again with another fresh blade. Ended with an irritation free shave, just was not very close possibly due to the blade
