    RaZorBurn123 waiting hardily...............

You know you're getting old when.....
You go with the "front pocket wallet"

    What?

You go with the front wallet because you don't need a bulge in the back pocket (costanza wallet for you olds) and because sitting lopsided on a wallet sucks.

+1 on sitting lopsided, especially while driving! :)

Actually, I did get the same comment from a friend when I showed him the wallet I was getting and talking about keeping it in my front pocket.
Something about "Next you'll hitch up your pants above your ankles wearing a white leather belt".
But I tuned him out :)

Front wallets are cool. All the cool kids do it. Minimalism.

I'd say something about the belt, but my watch strap today is white in color.

Now, now, you have to know the rules in order to violate them. When you're this good, the rules don't really apply, do they?

'tis is true and I believe CoCo chanel wore white all year around - so you're in pretty good fashion-company :)

Love that they play Epiphone Casino and EB2 style bass in that video.

Thanks for calling that out. I will openly admit I had no idea what Horween leather really was - apart from hearing the name in the past.
They have a pretty good summary page about it on their site that I enjoyed reading. Now I think I looking forward to getting it even more.
I agree on the hand stitching and the guy there seems genuinely nice.

    Link about Horween leather.

All the really good (and really expensive) horsehide shell strops are made from Horween's leather.
...and one other tannery in Japan.

How did I miss this thread? Looks like you got a good one!

Horween leather is very good leather, but is harder for small craftsman to get. There are a couple of other tanneries that make as good or better leather that people aren't familiar with the names of: Wickett & Craig in Pennsylvania, Herman Oak in St. Louis, quite a few others. Leatherworkers can't really market on the tannery except with Horween, but don't think that they don't make a quality leather. Most leatherworkers are very picky about the hides they purchase, so there are a lot of options.

Took a week or so - but today my new wallet from PopovLeather finally arrived!

First impression is I love it. The size, look, feel...even the smell!

I went with the traditional bifold wallet in driftwood leather and cream stitching.

I've already stuffed some cards and bills into it and it'll be ready to hit the road with me tomorrow morning!
This might be the best wallet I've ever owned...and now I'm gonna try out being a front-pocket carrier :D

Ryan was a pleasure to deal with and very helpful in guiding me towards what ended up being a great looking wallet with the size/feel that I was after.
If you're looking for a slimmer, high quality, handmade leather wallet I would seriously recommend you check out his products at http://www.popovleather.com/

Here's some glamour shots of it:
(Note: light and poor post processing caused the color to be a bit off in some photos. It's close to how it looks in the 2nd and 3rd photo below)

It feels as if it will fit very comfortable in the front pocket. This should be an interesting change for me.

    I really like the stitching...

..and one thing that sold me on it - less bulky than many other leather wallets:

Hopefully it'll be at least ten years until I lose this one :)

I noticed there's a Massdrop this week on a Popov card holder in the fantastic driftwood leather color (same as the wallet I bought).
MSRPs is at $39 (but on the site it's actually listed at $35) +shipping but the Massdrop can bring it down to $26.99 + $2 shipping.

    I priced it out online:
    Popov site: $35+$8 shipping - 15% discount = $36.50
    Massdrop: $26.99 + $2.25 shipping = $29.24

So, not a bad Massdrop deal and I'm tempted to add a card holder for evenings when I go out a bit 'lighter' ... Hmmm....

Fun trivia: This is the daily carrier of the maker himself :)

You got four thread color options: Black, Cream, Tan or brown.

I made my own from a Tandy leather kit. before that I had a duct tape wallet and a steel card holding money clip.

Friend of mine picked up one of these for $7.99 shipped out of California

He got the black-orange color combo and apparently likes it quite a bit. I haven't seen it in person so no idea about quality but I will say that the design is rather appealing.
