The Thater 4125 has a great 2 band knot in it. It is very dense which gives in lots of backbone. Ive got a Shavemac brush as well that has a nice 2 band knot in it but it does have less backbone.

Hello TSD - I hope you all enjoy this sunday.

My shave today started like this:

    0603.png

    - Barrister & Mann "Seville"
    - The Grosvenor "Finest"
    - T.W. Lang "The Gaelic" 11/16

My 3rd straight shave ... it was not my best ;) I might have overestimated the state of recovery after the jaw surgery - stretching the skin and making funny faces was not very pleasant, in fact it hurt quite a bit. And I think I might have dulled the blade slightly by stropping it incorrectly. I managed to perform one passs WTG, but it was pretty tuggy and without much stubble reduction.

So I switched to the Rockwell 6S (plate #4) for the next pass - man, what a difference. One pass ATG and some A/XTG touchups - BBS face. :happy088:

Oh and - the B&M soap (received a sample last week) is an incredible performer - fantastic soap. Lathers easily, very slick - and the post shave feel is the best I have experienced with any soap so far ... I think it's even better than MWF and PannaCrema, my former favorites. What I did not like that much was the scent. It's not completely unpleasant, but there is one component I don't care for ... I guess it is the oakmoss. I have another sample of their Leviathan soap, I'm really looking forwar to trying that one.

Thanks for your assessment - I guess I have to find a brick&mortar store around here that sells Thäter brushes. I'd really like to pick one up and feel it before I buy ;)

I bought mine used and tips were just beginning to hook. It now has a real gel like feel to it. The only other brush I own that has the gel tips is a Tipsoft 2 band brush I just got.

Mine came from a guy in Bulgaria for $25. It was listed as used but it looked brand new when it arrived.

    Razor: Schick G4
    Brush: Omega Syn.
    Blade: Ted Pella(4)
Pre Shave Oil: Home Made(orang scent-nice)
    Cream: Proaso White (tube)
    AS: Dove Men+ Care

Finally, back to a really good shave, of course I had to skip my upper lip( might as well grow a" stash"). At least for awhile. My 1st pass, ATG, which was surprisingly smooth, I always thought an ATG should be done with real short stubble to cut down on irritation. Rufus T was right all along. My 2nd pass, WTG and it was amazingly smoooth. it also allowed me to smooth out a couple of those problem areas under my chin. Except for my upper lip, I`m thinking maybe a BBS(iffy).Who on earth has this much fun doing something that most people think of as a chore? Happy camper again. Have fun all and God Bless. 3-6-2016 001.JPG

SS preshave oil has become a regular part of my process for more than a week. Still not sure if it helps, but the scent has become familiar. Rubbed the stick on the textured surface of this ceramic bowl for plenty lather whipped up by a well broken in boar. My straight is feeling more natural having been using them more often. Kicked off the training wheels and chose not to do a DE clean-up. Cool rinse and a skin tightening all over swipe of alum block felt great. Finished with a splash of The Veg. It was so good, I'll go back for another handful in a minute. Good day fellas!
