Final day on the Kai Captain Mild blade with the Feather SS. It's been a good week overall with few problems and I can give the blade credit for the low number of issues. There were more than a few opportunities to draw serious blood that were averted due to the forgiving nature of the mild blade. Hopefully my technique is back in shape with the razor so that those opportunities won't be a problem as I move to sharper blades. I was also impressed with the smoothness of the blade through the week. Very comfortable and also effective. Of course, having no guard to get in the way of an AC blade does make it easier to deliver a shave even on less sharp blades due to the ability to adjust the angle for maximum effect. Still, it's never a good idea to set too vertically. The only blood I earned this week was from that mistake.

The final shave today went very well like the others. Three passes to a DFS and no issues. The blade is still performing well and could continue on for more shaves if I wanted. All in all a good week with the pain stick and the Kai Mild has impressed. I could see it being an everyday choice, as long as you are comfortable enough in your masculinity to not try and go "super sharp and deadly" just for effect. Of course, I'll be moving up to the Kai Captain Original tomorrow to feed that masculine need. Woof!

If and when I get a pain stick to try I think I'll be starting with a guard blade then the Kai Mild. I'm unlikely to use Feather blades other then one each from a TryABlade sampler just to say I tried them all. Good luck on the rest of the month. So far its been (mostly) bloodfree.

I used both the Kai and Feather guards when I first tried the CJB. I'm not sure there was a great advantage over the Kai mild, other than the guards do keep you from slicing as easily, which is the worst mistake to make. Well, actually, the worst I've made with a pain stick was the tip slice that left a nice filet of cheek that one time. The guard probably wouldn't have stopped that though.

I decided that the eBay price was pretty good and I have waited long enough for a CJB and a tryablade sampler so I ordered both.

I'm glad I wasn't part of No Buy 2016. This thread is full of enablers. I have Florida Water, Tabac and, a Pain stick coming in.

Found some free time this afternoon, and decided to try and catch BBS. Got it! As usual the R66 took care of business for a super close and comfortable three pass. Alum was a nice and quiet. I am still doing the NBSP, and it is the way to go! Decided to switch it up and went Citrus Musk, always enjoy this AS. Lightning and snow today! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a terrific Tuesday!

    Monday's Shave

    Cold water
    Pso-Homemade mint oil
    Razor-Gillette Black Handle Super Speed
Blade- Personna Blue (1) Feather (5)
    Brush-Omega S
    Soap- RazoRock XXX
    Thayers Witch Hazel
    ASB-Nivea Sensitive

Thanks to @phillpsych I had another great shave tonight. He donated the Black Handle Super Speed to the February newbie giveaway. I started with the Personna Blue but after one pass I swapped in the Feather from my Flair Tip. I did not like the Personna, it drug across my face and barely reduced anything. The Feather finished up great.
This was also my first go with the RazoRock XXX. I really like the scent and it lathered great. I did my second night of bowl lather and I liked it. 15 swirls on the RazoRock and 40 seconds of building the lather and I had plenty. The Thayers and Nivea finished off a DFS.

That should shave identically to a Flare Tip SS. February was quite the score!

Yes it was, I was blessed to win. I like the texture of the handle on this razor.

Vintage soap? Yup, Williams from the '50's or '60's. Good stuff and if someone duplicated it, I'd stock up. Warmed up my big boar in the 5" textured ceramic bowl, while applying hot wet towel, followed by PS oil. Couple swipes of the soap stick on the moisten bowl and lathered up for a relaxing no drama session with a my Whipped Dog. No DE touch up - I knocked of the training wheels. Not a DFS, but that's why I'm here. No nicks and the alum was sting free. Menthol Monday cooling from Aqua Velva for a nice finish.

Sounds like it was a good shave and the super speed is treating you well. The Personna blades did not like me much either. I had much better luck with Russian blades, which of course made the cartel happy. The Gillette Silver Blue and Ladas ended up being my favorite Russians and the Bolzano were German blades that were sharp as feathers but smoother for me. YMMV of course.

Another great shave. However, I could tell that the blade was dulling a little. Not quite as smooth but still delivered. Somehow though my right cheek gets bbs but I almost always have to go back over my left ATG again. No clue why. Anyway, perfect bowl lather from the MITA and I just adore this synthetic brush. All in all, a great shave to cut away the stress of the day. Pun totally intended.
