This thread started 2-1/2 years ago, now with 5,681 posts. It's going to take me a while to catch up, but I'd like to see every post. When I finish my current 30 focus I'll jump in here next. Thanks for gathering all this history in one convenient location :)

There'll probably be a few repeats in those close-to-6k posts, but plenty of razor eye-candy!

You should just go ahead and post here too! Best way to be a part of something is to join in the fun.

I am very happy with the brush, just got it Monday. It is beautiful, and lathers fantastic! The razor is great, had Glenn hone it for me, and fix some edge issues. I have three more I want to get into rotation, but they need some work too. Want to try it myself, and ship at least one out if I can't get it yet.

I may just do that. Already I see some folks who were here from the beginning of the thread. One in particular who only owned a couple of straights, and only one that was shave ready. I wonder how many now?

Glen does nice work. He honed up my razor and had it back to me in no time. I'll have to put an order in with Jim to make a brush for me too.

Yes, Glenn turned it around in no time and it shaves great. I know any issues I have are me, not the blade. I will get another brush from Jim, too.

    Hello TSD
YAY! I did it! My first "real" straight shave. 2 passes with the knife, no DE touchups - and I live to tell the tale:happy108:

    1003sw.jpg

This is what I used today for my 4th straight shave ever:

    - Stirling Glastonbury
    - Whipped Dog HM Badger
    - Gold Dollar 208
    - Tüff sensitiv Rasierwasser

The guy I bought this razor from obviously knows what he's doing. Very sharp and a pleasure to use - this cheap chinese blade is definitely worth the 20 € I paid for it! From the first stroke I realized: This thing is sharper than the "Gaelic" I used before. No pulling and tugging, just clean, pleasant cutting. The first pass WTG went so well that I decided to go XTG with the knife as well.

I still have to figure out the best way to hold the razor for neck shaving though. And it seems that for going XTG it might be best to use the right hand on the left side of the face and vice versa. It definitely took me a while though - could have finished 2 DE shaves in the same amount of time ;) But I guess I'll have plenty of time to practice.

After these two passes my face is by no means BBS, I wouldn't even call it a DFS, but it definitely is socially acceptable. No cuts, virtually no irritation. The AS did not burn at all on my cheeks, just a little bit on my neck.

I think now I have to have find someone who sharpens my other razor properly, so I can use that as well. Oh - and I already have a third straight incoming - a 5/8 wedge, because I wanted to try something different than full hollow.

    Have a great day :happy088:
