First shave with a SE razor and I like the easiness of the razor. I didn't have any SE blades at home and couldn't wait I thought I should use my DE blades. Although cutting a double edge razor took some time, a had a great shave in a short time.

    Personna(7)
    Badger

    Cold Water Rinse,Alum Block
    Gillette After Shave Lotion

Ok so I was in the local health food store the other day to see if they got any Waleda ASB in yet, when the very attractive lady working there asked if I needed any help,I told her what i was looking for and we started talking about the products on the shelf when she recommended the Aubrey shave cream it took all of two seconds for me to buy it. LOL (Did I mention she was attractive?):) DSCF0165.JPG
Anyway I tried it this morning with great results you don't lather it just apply it to your wet face, it's not a thick cream but very very slick I did my normal three pass shave with no problem at all,it also left my face real smooth and soft.
The Personna blade is on day seven and still going strong in my Fatboy,so a bit long winded this morning sorry for that I ended up witha BBS finish. :happy088:

    HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!
  10. For Flint Friday
Another excellent shave, courtesy of TTFFC. The lather was thick and slick enough to make my Futur set on six for three passes feel as mild as an iKon SC101. This shave was as efficient as my OCMM, but more comfortable. I'll have to do a side by side comparison to really compare them, but the nod right now goes to the Futur. I did get one short lived weeper that closed with a cold water rinse. In the end, my skin feels amazingly smooth and I smell good.

    Brush: HIS
    Razor: Merkur Futur

  12. Hello TSD - this was my straight shave #5:

    1103.jpg

    Preparation:
    - 20 laps on the paddle strop
    - washed face with Stirling Preshave Soap
    - hot towel placed on face for a minute or two

    and then:
    - Stirling "Nag Barber" (mixed leftovers of "Nag Champa" and "Barbershop" samples, a quite pleasant scent actually)
    - Mühle STF
    - Gold Dollar 208
    - La Toja Aftershave

Handling a straight still feels a bit awkward, but I guess it will become more and more natural over time. 2 passes again today (WTG and XTG) - and I THINK the result is a tiny bit better than the one from yesterday's shave. This time I switched the razor from right to left hand during the WTG pass and used only my right hand for the XTG pass. Worked pretty well, I think. One tiny blood spot (not really a cut, I guess I just hit a small pimple there) and a little bit of irritation on my neck. Nothing serious, really nice shave. My final verdict: SAS (socially acceptable shave). Smooth with the grain, not so much against ;)

    Have a great day :happy088:

    •Atra aluminum handle
    •Cremo Cooling

2 pass BBS. Shaves maybe a hair sharper than Gillette carts, and somewhat better than the serviceable Dorcos.

    •1980s Old Spice Sensitive lotion
    •Blue Cross Skin Bracer clone

    And away we go...
  14. A very, very nice, refreshing shave - it's a lucky thing for me that I stopped my brother-in-law from taking my Paradise Frost soap. It smells so beautiful, lathers so richly and easily with good skincare. The Intesa balm and Alt Innsbruck aftershave were a terrific finish! :happy088: :happy088:

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Voshkod (4)
Razor: Maggard MR1 with V2 open comb
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel splash enhanced Fine American Blend, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, XTG, touch-up

    Cold Water.jpg

Fat Friday! Pretty nice shave this morning with MWF and the Maggard razor. I did have a couple of tiny weepers around the corners of my mouth. I've had more weepers in the past three days than in the past two weeks. Don't know if it's the new cold water regimen, the blade, or my technique. It certainly wasn't the lather's fault! Mitchell's makes tremendous lather - thick, rich, nice and slick. It's amazing stuff.

Tomorrow I may go back to the Schick G1 to continue my technique enhancements with SE razors. Or, if I stick with the Maggard, then I'll put in a new blade to see if that makes any difference with the weepers. If I continue to get them then I may have to try warm/hot water again. I'll figure it out with some experimentation.

I hope wherever you are and whatever you do that today is a great one!

  20. :signs154:Perry I would switch out that blade, I love Voskhods as much as the next guy but I didn't find them very good after 3 shaves. Now I just toss blades after each use or 2 shaves at most. :)
