Back to the blade focus after the short diversion with my newly Delta Echo Razorworks coated NEW LC. The Blackbird has tried out several blades this month. GSB offered a good smooth shave, Feather was a little rough and ran out of edge during shave #4. The newest candidate is the Derby Extra blade. Today was smooth and effective with a simple 3 pass shave providing near BBS results. Lets see if it lasts a week.

I also rebooted my blog. Visit it if you want a little boredom or are having a hard time going to sleep.

Well I've never been one to push a blade just to see its total longevity. Maybe on one or two occasions but usually I stop when I feel it start to lose the edge. On the other hand, I know that Voskhod will last a good 5-7 shaves without a problem, but I always toss the blade after three shaves. Same with Bic and a few others. No reason to risk a bad shave when the price of blades is so low. Granted, with the AC blades you pay more, but I've always found a week on them is very easily done. Over that you are risking finding that day when the blade went south and it's a whole new level of pain when one of those blades dulls up as compared to a DE blade.

Well I don't push a blade either but they usually let me know when to stop by having a steadyish decline right before they kick it. If I toss it at the first sign of degradation I should be fine.

The key to easy bbs for me, using a moderate aggressive razor like yours, is skin stretching. You should use the temperature that you find most comfortable. The science behind hot water is dubious, at best.

Pull up any straight razor video instructional, and watch how the person will use their off hand to tighten the skin for every stroke. This maneuver occurs behind the razor and opposes the stroke. This action flattens the skin surface while exposing the follicles to the blade bevel, allowing the razor to shear the hair shafts at skin level.

    Techniques...

I picked the worst year ever to do No Buy. Apologies are being issued now for lack of self control come January 2017.

Straight RAD is gonna be stupid, I already know.

Derby. Troy's technique trumps tools! I don't think you can have a bad shave with the Blackbird.

I prefer Tito's Vodka out of TX its smoother and cheaper. I'm a CNA and a licensed Med Tech. I also have had Combat Life Saver courses I have completed. I have medical supplies overflowing a closet. Maybe you should move closer to me for when Ivan gets cheeky?

    Injector Focus.
It's not often that I shave twice in a day. Today started very early with a shave with my Type D before heading to the airport. Tonight I had a business dinner and realized it had been 17 hours since I shaved. Time for a touchup, so I got out my G-5 travel razor and did a one pass shave which is all it took to get a DFS after the BBS earlier in the day. My 21 hour day is over. Good night

It's another no shave Monday for me. I am still at a CCS level of smoothness after yesterday's wonderful shave. I am heading in late this morning as I am taking the kids to school. Hope everyone has a great Monday.

    Menthol Monday!
    March focus shave 13

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick G1 Injector
    Brush: Satin Tip 'ThePurest' synthetic
    Lather: Proraso Green shaving soap
Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD SubZero after shave, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

    Cold Water.jpg

Nice shave this morning with the Schick G1. It mowed right through a 2-day beard growth. One pass with touch-up leads to a CCS. The cold water, Proraso Green, and TSD SubZero all combined for a chilly, invigorating start to the day.

Hope your Monday is a good one!

Second shave with a Feather in my Birth Quarter Super Speed and my first shave with Chiseled Face Sherlock. I really like this soap. Very slick, nice aroma and it provided very good cushion. Did my typical 2 passes and touch up. The reduction was very good. I chased the baby for a bit and thought I might have caught him. But once again wound up with 2 spots that still have stubble. Kind of strange. When I hold my head normally or stretch my neck and feel, it is all BBS. But when I hold my chin to my chest and turn my head, I'm feeling a small amount of stubble at the end my neck on both sides. :signs002:

I hope everyone has a nice Monday.
