Nice Haul I like the black and cream Bakelite razor. Interesting head design. If they were mine, that would be the one I'd be interested in trying. I look forward to a future review on it if you so choose.
Thanks - I like that one too and will definitely shave with it soon. The head looks pretty much like the Merkur Progress - huge blade gap ;-) In the meantime I have cleaned all the razors and they came out pretty nicely. Here are three of them: The middle one is not a Rotbart btw., it's an Astra 901. Made in Czechoslovakia in the 1960ies. Apparently these razors have been quite popular in the GDR (Gillette then bought the Astra Company in 1996 as far as I know). No idea what the other two razors are, though. And here's the Slim:
Thanks Rob - but as I said - not a Rotbart, it's an Astra 901. Rotbart looks pretty similar, but has a ribbed handle.
OK, thought the one on the left might have been a Rotbart. Good finds nonetheless, sure the price was right.
Actually I have no idea what kind of razor the left one is. It has a marking on the baseplate, but even Google does not know anything about it:
No Brut bar soap at all on their website. I stopped into one of their stores today and all they had was the Brut Revolution scented (blue) bar soap. I'll keep looking but I may have to pay you to ship me a few. In the past what I've done is add a bit of aftershave to unscented body wash but I'd like to find the bar soap.
In the meantime I found out that this is a "Meli" razor (first misread it as "Mell"). Apparently of Czechoslovakian origin as well. The handle does not match though - usually they looked like this: The razor often came as part of a travel set like this one:
