  7. OK, fellow grouchy grammarians, here are my contributions:
    1) Number- a quantity that you can count, such as the number of crayons in a box. When you diminish a number, you have fewer.
    2) Amount-
a quantity that you can measure, such as the amount of water in a lake. When you diminish an amount, you have less.
  8. Thank you I'm so tired of seeing this incorrectly spelled

  12. I think it would be funny to hear people say "I apologize deeply" instead of the "I'm sorry"/"excuse me" to which you refer.
  13. yes,..as in "I was like NO WAY" when all that is necessary is "I said NO WAY".

  16. One of my pet peeves is the unfortunate interchange of travesty and tragedy.

Travesty - a false, absurd representation of something; represented in a false of distorted way

    Tragedy - a terrible event

    They are not the same!!

  17. Let's not forget "should of" in the place of "should have". Here in New York, there are some people who have the annoying habit of "aksing" a question. When I was teaching, my usual response to "Can I aks you a question?" Was "No, but you may ask me one."
