:signs021:As long as its sitting forward on those guides which it looks like it is to me..A Gem Blade has a thinner spine & needs shimmed from behind or it will be Hyper Aggressive..:)

I am on a roll this week. I went to a few antique stores this afternoon. I found myself a very nice ER 1914 with 6 original blades.
Now I can join the birthday shave.

Yes I will be trying it out tomorrow. I need to go buy some horse hide from the leather store and make a strop to get the blade in shape. If not I will just shim a GEM blade. I am getting in hot water with the wife. 4 razors this week:) I knew I could not keep the no razor promise for getting my F:D

I had to have this.... Negotiations led to a fair price. I just can't resist boxed sets.

It's beautiful NOS - I think it's the only one I've seen in that box and with a blank in it. Glad you talked them off the ledge a bit on pricing - it was $499.00 at one point if I remember right. Wait till a shiny G2 catches your eye.

I loved today's shave. I broke out the D and had the most wonderful shave with it. Probably the best yet with this razor. Unbelievably smooth, great reduction. End result was smooth, smooth, smooth in every way. Nothing but face rubbing goodness. :happy036:

How do you like the Irish Moos? I'm still trying to find a shave stick I like. Since I'm 0-4 I'm starting to wonder if it might be...me? All the more reason to find one that works well (and smells OK.)

    The Bunny V3 (MILD comb)
    NOS Schick Super Chromium (1)
    Maggard Razors synthetic brush
    Valobra Fougere soap
    Pinaud Lilac Vegetal aftershave

My first shave ever with the Bunny and it was great! :happy088:

I was using the mild comb, it felt like a really mild shave, but somehow ended up really close. :signs021:

This was my first shave with the Star 1902

    Razor: Star 1902
Blade: Gem SS (shim 1-1/2 spines) to start.
    Soap: MWF
    Brush: Boar

As this was my first go with this particular razor. I took special care in my preparations today. Nice hot shower and a good face washing with Dove.

I had two full days growth to cut. I like that when testing a new to me razor. I made a real nice lather today, building it on my face. As I started with the recommended 1-1/2 shims to tame it down. Started the first pass paying attention to the angle and sound. This pass was pretty smooth. I wet my hands and did the once around checking for reduction. I was kind of disappointed the reduction was not up to par.

Ok I think to myself first time with razor not to worry. Lathered up for my second pass XTG. proceeded thru that with no issues. Again I wet my hands and checked. This reduction was what I expected the first one to do. Standing there thinking this is going to take too many passes to get a DFS. I removed all of the shims.

Lathered up for my third pass ATG. Now I am hearing this razor sing. I can hear those pesky little hairs getting whacked. Finished my third pass. Wet my hands and felt around. Now that is more like it. I am happy now. This was nice reduction. I was thinking to myself I should have started out this way.

I lathered for a fourth pass. I almost never do this. Did my fourth pass ATG. Minced off and I now have a fine mixed DFS BBS shave. Just a bit under my jaw and Adams Apple is all I can feel.

I am very pleased with how it performed without the shims. I will give it another go in a few days. I really need to find a wedge blade for this now.
