:signs021:Aye Tom..I find the Kampfe to be a Fairly Mild Razor Compared to the Rolls..I would Go as far as Suggesting the Rolls just might be the Grand Ultimate Hollow/Wedge Blade SE of them All..I even think the Rolls has the Edge on the Almighty C.V Hejestrand & that's saying Something..I never use the Guard Bar in the Rolls & its Just a shortened Straight on a Handle..I will push the boat out further..The Rolls is far more Efficient than a Straight as well in terms of attaining a Deep PAL Injectomatic Kinda all Over BBS..:)

Question. Do you store your injector with or without a blade in it?
By that I mean, for weeks on end of no use.

As a relative newcomer to injectors and this thread, I think I may have seen some discussion on this issue but my memory doesn't recall it so well.
(Wish I had a copy of BillyFs book right now. Oh yeah, that's right, it's still in "hees heed.")

Right...From Ma Heed Book ..Aye just leave them in..I leave them from one year to the next & never had a problem..I have bought Injectors that were made in the 30s and never had a problem except for some minor surface rust that gets cleaned out the 1st New blade..Injectors were designed to kept loaded anyway..:)

    Thank you Master. :yoda

But wasn't there an exception to the PAL Adjustable? Or was that just to dial it down when storing it?

I keep the PAL Adjustable on the High Setting to keep the Tension off the Spring that's inside the Handle..You are Welcome Grasshopper..:kar:

Glad to hear that it went well for you. The Kampfe Bros Star 1902 is indeed on the mild side, at least by wedge razor standards. The earlier Stars have blade adjustment screws. While these were intended to be used to compensate for blade "shrinkage" from repeated honing, they also can be used to vary where the blade edge sits in relation to the comb and thus adjust aggressiveness.

The Rolls is a different animal, essentially (like Billy said) a "straight on a stick." I also believe that the Sheffield steel used in the Rolls blade is superior to that used in the Kampfe Bros. blades.

The C. V. Heljestrand remains my favorite razor of this type, although right now I have a couple of Rapides that are seriously challenging it.

I have 18 or so injectors but I only use about 4 of them on a regular basis. At this moment they all have blades installed. All injector blades worth using are stainless steel (or tungsten if you are really fortunate) and thus not subject to rust, so it doesn't hurt anything to leave them in. Besides, there is really no elegant way to remove a blade from in injector without installing another blade (early E2's aside).

My biggest problem is when I break out an injector razor that I haven't used in several months, I often find that I have no idea what kind of blade is in it or how many shaves are on that blade. :ashamed001:

Alright...Alright....and now time for some soul searching.....and whisker tallying, to be more specific....

The H type was annihilating all whiskers in it's path....if this was designed for a chick....she must of had some 'Chuck Norris'-'Billy Fergie' type leg whiskers, is all I can say....:happy102:

So I was and am a 'H'uge fan.....Last week, I dusted off my early E2 and found....if I use the same light 3 finger fast smooth moves that the H type inspires....with my E2....the shaves are every bit as close, fast, and....get this.....irritation free.........Thats right......For the first time, I've been getting ZERO weepers with my E2...and not even pink cheeks....:happy088:...

I didn't trust one days shave.....so I used the E2 for a few days....never any burn.....not a hint of weeper.....Cool....Seems like something happen, while experimenting with this 'H' that locked in my E2 chops....now the E2 is a pussy cat!....

SOOOOO, I'm thinking....I've learned a new degree of 'light touch' apperantly....so how does that effect my 'chops' with my other favs....So tonight I pulled out the "Coolest Razor in the Garage" to take for a spin....
    TONIGHT'S SHAVE
    HOT!!! Whisker Rinse
    Arko (Lather Bomba) Stick/Omega 10029
THE Schick Simplified Automatic-I rifled, like 12 old blades through the mechanism to get in the mood, to kick whisker @$$....:kar:Not a hitch, bobble, or hic-cup....
Settled on a Longs Drugs/NOS Personna Chromium d1, and dropped that in the mag, and rifled it into position. Smooth as silk!
2 Pass plus touch-up pass perfection!
Man, this Classic Repeater really does a perfect job.

Then splashed with Ice cold water to close the pores....Thayer's Original Witch Hazel to tone my skin......and Clubman Classic Vanilla/Aqua Velva Musk, to Seal the Deal and smell fantastic....:happy108:

VERDICT: H-type, E2, and C3 are all three....Perfect in every way!

The H is the smallest travel-jector, and shaves perfect.....but this C3 is also a perfect travel-jector in every way...and it's 'Cool' factor is off the charts....

It's official. I'm taking the day off for Thursday's shave. It is to get an extra day's growth so I can try out the WILD comb. So, the gear will get the day off as the beard gets another day to grow.

Today's shave was again with the GEM push button. Third day as well with the CVS carbon blade. I'm feeling controversial this morning so I made use of a couple love/hate products; thatbeing, Arko and the Veg:)
I'm really getting into a groove with this razor. the stiff se blade, coupled with the somewhat mild razor, makes short work of the daily fuzz.
Where a razor/blade combo really proves itself to me is the ATG pass under the nose. For me the whiskers are very thick and wiry and the skin is sensitive and prone to some razor burn. This tackles this by deftly removing the whiskers to bbs without any irritation. So a simple math equation for this morning:
GEM + CVS blade+ Arko soap+Veg= 1 Great morning shave:)

    March Recap
My month of March focused on two Schick E type razors: a Canadian E and a US E2.

    03-30-16.JPG

I also used three different blades with each razor for a minimum of three shaves with each razor:
    Schick (China)
    NOS Schick Platinum Plus
    NOS Schick Platinum (Holland)

Both razors provided great shaves for me this month. So equally good, that I have difficulty discerning any big difference between them - even with side-by-side shaves.

The E2 appears to be slightly more aggressive than the Canadian E. I’d hesitate to use either razor in speedster fashion without running the risk of weepers or nicks. And don’t lose focus with either. I also noticed that a light touch eliminates any chance of irritation. I describe the light-touch stroke as one that essentially allows just enough pressure to provide skin contact as I guide the razor. It rolls over my skin as it exhibits shock absorber-like motion up and down over my dimpled face and broad chin.

Aesthetically, these razors are beauties. I just love the butterscotch handles, especially the darker color of the Canadian with the very dark vein running through it. I also like the added feature of the E2 with the head-opening lever.

These two razors were great finds and will become part of my regular rotation (that is, if I ever stop buying razors and develop a rotation!)

I will be new to Gem SE blade razors. I have bought one to use and not to collect. I decided on the Push Button over the Contour/Contour II on aesthetic looks. Would there be anything to gain by adding a Clog Pruf or Ever Ready Streamline?

For what it's worth both the razors you mentioned will be a different experience for sure. YMMV but you'll likely find them both to be more aggressive than the Push Button. My two cents would be to spend time with the Push Button until you feel like you are getting the hang of it and then branch out to something new. After all, what would this forum be if we didn't have fellow shavers to enable??? :D
