That Model T from Rockwell looks fantastic! I may have to try and get one myself.

My local AOS in NJ is a beta store. They have a few techs in nickel and gold and one adjustable similar to the slim with a PLASTIC handle, baseplate and adjustment dial! :think002:

youngunn Where's my TSD aftershave balm???

Yeah, I'm actually not too excited about this. It takes something away from the specialness of the collecting of classic razors. Just my two cents.

    Lol

Right....... AoS selling something reasonably priced? And something that's "hip" and hyped up? We can only wish

Your position is understandable, but I think an original will always be special to a collector. The long comb I got from my buddy who is no longer with us, will always be precious to me no matter how many re-markets they produce. And I really like the idea of being able to get hold of a perfect condition Fatboy or Tech to use a a daily shaver any time I want without having to grapple through the e bay circus...

And that's understandable too. Great thing about gentlemanly opinions. We don't have to have the same viewpoint and still be buddies :)

If the remakes are decent quality with a decent price then it will be a good thing. The Tech is a razor that is recommended for new shavers but, getting one is slightly risky. I have seen some that were bent or damaged in some way on eBay. A new wetshaver will not know what good is and a bent bottom plate or stripped screw might put them off wetshaving. Reissues of these gives newbies more options for great mild razors without the used risk of damage. I probably will not be getting one for myself since I already have a good vintage Tech and a Fatboy. If they remake the NEW I might be tempted. Or maybe a Toggle.

Just finished this entire thread...phew. Lot's of interesting points and counterpoints. For me the car comparison works best. When I am driving around and see a new Dodge Charger, I think to myself...nice car, but it'd be a cold day in Hades before I would choose that remake over a vintage '68 model. With that in mind...I'll keep my '58 Fat Boy and count myself lucky to own one. (Not to mention all of my vintage Gillette's) :signs136:

Due to practical concerns like emissions and the advent of computer assist technology, a car probably can never be remade verbatim the same as it's original incarnation. The same might not be said about these relatively simple razor re-makes. I guess we'll just have to see what the end quality will be of the re market and if they are in fact, exact duplicates of the originals or another Chinese style knock off...

I want a Toggle or a Bottom Dial, just because they look cool.
