So I decided to try a cold water shave this morning after my shower. I have to admit that despite the Astra SP being on its 5th shave, it was definitely one of the closest shaves I've had. I will definitely be doing this again.
Three shaves in now. I like it, but can't quite go fully cold. I have settled with just luke warm water. I know you double hard, cold water guys will sneer, however I do have a much better shave than with the really hot water I used before. This has been a really good experience/thread.
I just go with whatever comes out of the cold tap which in Phoenix could be any temperature. I am considering using my scuttle for the first time along with the cold water. I think that the combination of cold water/warm lather/cold razor might be nice. Maybe I'll have extra time this weekend to try.
I think Kevin aka @HolyRollah implements this method. I think it sounds nice Ben, let me know how it goes.
I tried the scuttle, the top is too small to lather on and my brush barely fit in the opening. The plan was to use hot lather and cold everything else but it didn't really work out. I'm not sure if it was the hot water but my soap exploded into thick lather tonight. It's only my second use of this soap so maybe it's just getting started, I'll have to play around with hot/cold water for lathering to see. My first lather was hot and felt good but the other 2 were just warm. I may have to improvise a scuttle I can lather in the really try this out. Here is the scuttle:

I found this badge from an older thread. @Jayaruh this is another of yours, right? I like it! It's bigger than the other badges though, so I'll stick with them.
It's worth a try. I didn't like it the first couple of times I tried it. Then I came back to it on a whim and haven't looked back since. It's refreshing, invigorating, and keeps my skin feeling smoother and less irritated.
