i bought some witch hazel a few days ... completely a consumables replacement purchase. it was my very first buy since the first of the year, though. no other temptations while at the big box store.

i've had my shavex alum block for about a year. it finally got thin enough and broke into pieces at the end of last week. i'll be going to amazon soon to replace that. i'm sure the urge to 'look around' will be strong.

i've had a hankerin' to try some Route66Shave soap recently. so far, i've been able to hold off on the purchase for me. i did purchase for someone else, though, in a recent PIF. that has, at least, lightened the urge a bit.

after all that ... still in !

How's everyone doing? Still going strong here but truly tempted by the Rocnel SE razor.

My wife and I were in Sally Beauty last weekend. Saw a bottle of Clubman (don't have any) and was eyeballing it. From behind me my wife says: "I thought you weren't buying anything this year...?" I sheepishly retreated from that aisle. Phew...still in! (That would be embarrassing, failing NB '16 over a bottle of Clubman) :shocked029:

over the past few days, i bought a beautiful s-4 black handled SS from holyrollah ... as a birth-year DE gift for my brother

i got him some proraso green and an omega boar a while back to start him on his journey and get him practicing with a brush and lather. along with a homegrown blade sampler, this razor will really get him going on his move from cartidges to DEs.

kevin also had a slim in my birth year, but i didn't make it in time. whew! i'm not sure i would have been able to hold off ...

    63 ... q2

i actually have an I-2 slim. i love it! i have a little project going on to gather up five more for gifts for my sons ... four are DE converts and one has yet to start shaving but will soon enough.

my first 'extra' for this work-in-process is an H-3. i figure it's close enough to a birth-year.

i call it my conception razor ... :happy102:

If you have been following my SOTD shaving saga, you will know that I am away from home and all that I brought with me was a tub of Haslinger Coconut. It turns out that I cannot use this product. Besides the below average shaves it offers, it started really irritating my face badly. Proof:
    IMG_7239.JPG
Some very kind members offered to ship me a new soap, but I declined, thinking that I might find a suitable replacement here in Hattiesburg, MS. That was not to be, so I broke down and ordered a tube of DRH Arlington cream from Amazon. Naturally their 2-day shipping takes three days to get here :angry019:, so I am taking a break from my shaving routine to allow my face to recover. In case you are interested, I have PIF'd the remaining Haslinger to our friend @Robyflexx who was first to respond (what a surprise;)) that he would like it. I was very happy to oblige. Perhaps he will have better results than I did.
So the burning question remains...am I still in? I await the verdict with baited breath. :scared001:

I think this falls under a necessity and doesn't violate NB '16. I'd give him a pass.

I don't believe this should affect your NB in anyway Primo. Circumstances beyond your control! :)

Ok, I think I'm out. Last evening, after having purchased the DRH Cream, which BTW, I do believe was well within the boundaries of a necessity purchase, I was perusing :lam:, gulp, another forum's BST thread and found a sale of a 95% full bottle of DRH Arlington AS and an almost new tub of Arlington cream for a very reasonable price. So...:o, I cancelled my Amazon order and bought both of those products. Admittedly, the AS was an unnecessary purchase and pretty clearly violated the spirit of the NB '16.
It's been fun and considering I made it this long, I am not too ashamed of my weakness, especially under these circumstances. :signs001:
